Two hundred makers, three days, and 67 acres of Hudson River lawn to wander when you’re done shopping.
Artrider’s longest-running craft festival returns to Lyndhurst on the third weekend of September, filling the grounds of the Gothic Revival mansion with more than 200 American makers, artists, and designers.
Expect original fashion, accessories, and jewelry; functional and sculptural work in ceramics, glass, metal, fiber, wood, and mixed media; and fine art painting, printmaking, drawing, and photography — nearly all of it sold by the person who made it.
Then there’s lunch: BBQ, wood-fired pizza, crepes, seafood, burgers, ice cream, and vegetarian options, alongside small-batch gourmet specialties and tastings from New York State distilleries, wineries, and cider houses. A mobile beer and wine truck handles the rest.
Bring the kids on Saturday or Sunday for interactive puppet theater, face painting, stilt walkers, storytelling, and craft demonstrations. (Children’s activities run Saturday and Sunday only — not Friday.)
Stay for the estate. Admission includes all 67 acres: river views, the rose garden, the carriage house, the nation’s first steel-framed conservatory, and one of America’s earliest bowling alleys. Tours of the mansion itself are available for an additional fee.
