This October, Lyndhurst Mansion transforms into Prince Prospero’s abbey for an immersive theater experience drawn from Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death. As a guest of Prospero, you’ll move through the Gothic halls of the 1842 mansion — dressed in the garish colors and grotesque beauty of Poe’s tale — walking room to room with delight and dread as the story of the doomed revelers unfolds around you.
Performed and produced by the Irvington Shakespeare Company, this feverish masquerade unfolds over an evening inside one of the Hudson Valley’s great Gothic Revival houses — a fitting stage for Poe, and a perfect one for Halloween.

- General admission $45 + service fees; recommended for ages 12 and up
- Select evenings, October 15–30, 6:00–9:00 PM — choose your date and entry time when you book
- An immersive, walk-through experience involving long periods of standing and stairs; the mansion has no elevator
- Arrive 15 minutes early; check in at the Welcome Center (accessible restroom available)
- No large bags, backpacks, or strollers in the mansion
