Stone Barns Center is a nonprofit working farm, education, and research center in Pocantico Hills, NY, open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM (closed Monday and Tuesday). Visitors are welcome to explore the grounds, meet the farmers and chefs, visit the Orientation Center, and shop in the Cafeteria and Market — no reservation required. Advance tickets are required for campus programs and dining experiences.
Housed in a 1930s Norman-style stone dairy complex built by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., the 80-acre farm is surrounded on three sides by the adjoining Rockefeller State Park Preserve. Its fields, pastures, orchards, and gardens support a working landscape of composting, agroforestry, and rotational livestock grazing, making it a compelling destination for anyone interested in sustainable farming and the future of food.

Stone Barns Center offers a range of programs that invite visitors to explore sustainable agriculture and culinary innovation. Activities include guided farm tours, culinary labs showcasing whole grain baking and nose-to-tail butchery, and family-style meals at the Community Table. Visitors can also enjoy the Cafeteria's farm-to-table offerings and shop for fresh produce, meat, and other goods. The campus is also home to Blue Hill at Stone Barns, the acclaimed Michelin-starred, farm-to-table restaurant led by chef Dan Barber (reservations required, booked separately through the restaurant).
Beyond its own 80 acres, Stone Barns Center manages hundreds of acres of grassland at the Buttermilk Hill section of the adjoining Rockefeller State Park Preserve. The center uses livestock grazing to improve the biodiversity of wild plants and animals, soil health, carbon sequestration, and soil water retention and absorption, while also fortifying the grasslands that the animals themselves rely on.
