The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Sculpture
Across the street, at the entrance to Philipsburg Manor, is another monument to The Legend. This granite bas-relief also depicts the hapless Ichabod Crane fleeing for his life from the Headless Horseman, with the Old Dutch Church appearing in the background. Sculptor Michael Gressel carved the relief, which the Centennial Committee of the Village of North Tarrytown presented to the village in 1974.
The village changed its name from North Tarrytown to Sleepy Hollow in 1997.
