Discover the legends behind the legend! In his book Legends and Lore of Sleepy Hollow and the Hudson Valley, Jonathan Kruk uncovers the stories behind the Hudson Valley’s most enduring legends and folklore, including Sleepy Hollow’s famous headless horseman.
Kruk has collected and investigated local folklore for decades. In this book he recounts Sleepy Hollow’s other legends, the Revolutionary War ghost of a British spy and the ill-fated ladies of Raven Rock, as well as digging into Irving’s inspirations for Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassell, and the horseman.
