Where the Legend Lives
Oscar Feldman Quartet – Celebrating the music of Gato Barbieri (presented in association with Laura Barbieri)!
Known for his splendid tonalities and melodically outstanding charts, the Argentinian native demonstrates his superb skills on alto, tenor and soprano saxes, while employing a wide range of Panamerican references, from straight ahead to tango to candombe to samba to mambo. The source of Feldman’s ease at crossing musical genres is his eclectic musical education.
Growing up in Cordoba around painters who gathered in the familly gallery art business, listening to his father’s jazz records, he attended Conservatorio Provincial de Musica and was very soon part of the prominent music scene in his hometown, becoming a founding member of acclaimed band Los Musicos del Centro.
Jazz Forum, Westchester County’s only dedicated jazz club, is tucked away on a side street in downtown Tarrytown. Drawing musicians from around the world, the club strives to make music affordable and accessible. Headline jazz artists perform on Friday and Saturday nights with two sets per night at 7 and 9:30 pm. Two Sunday afternoon sets at 4 pm and 6 pm often feature Brazilian and Latin jazz. Check the club’s website for each weekend’s performer list and to purchase tickets. Many shows sell out in advance, get yours early.
The Jazz Forum offers a full menu including entrées, dinner plates, cured meats and cheese, tapenades and house-made desserts. It has a full bar and features fine Italian wines, local draft beers and specialty cocktails. The food and drink menu is available for all Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows.
Jazz Forum also produces a popular series of outdoor summer concerts at five Hudson River locations: Lyndhurst mansion, Tarrytown’s Pierson Park, Sleepy Hollow’s Horan’s Landing Park, Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park, and Henry Gourdine Park in Ossining.
