Mike LeDonne’s Groover Quartet

June 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

$35 – $45
Jazz pianist and organist Mike LeDonne poses at a keyboard.

When The Jazz Forum acquired its new Hammond B-3 organ last year, there was only one group they could ask to debut it – Mike LeDonne’s Groovers. For over 20 years, keyboard great Mike LeDonne has been at the B-3 to lead The Groover Quartet in a wildly popular weekly “grits and gravy” jazz gig at Smoke in Manhattan.

He’s bringing that sound back to Tarrytown with this outstanding group of soulful, top-notch musicians. Groover Quartet features Eric Alexander, Peter Bernstein and Kenny Washington.

LeDonne started playing piano at the age of 5 and was raised in his parent’s music store. By the age of 10 his father, a jazz guitarist, began booking him on gigs. He is now an internationally renowned pianist and organist with the unique experience of having played with a wide spectrum of jazz masters from Benny Goodman to Milt Jackson and Sonny Rollins.

Jazz Forum, Westchester County’s only dedicated jazz club, is tucked away on a side street in downtown Tarrytown. Drawing musicians from around the world, the club strives to make music affordable and accessible. Headline jazz artists perform on Friday and Saturday nights with two sets per night at 7 and 9:30 pm. Two Sunday afternoon sets at 4 pm and 6 pm often feature Brazilian and Latin jazz. Check the club’s website for each weekend’s performer list and to purchase tickets. Many shows sell out in advance, get yours early.

The Jazz Forum offers a full menu including entrées, dinner plates, cured meats and cheese, tapenades and house-made desserts. It has a full bar and features fine Italian wines, local draft beers and specialty cocktails. The food and drink menu is available for all Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows.

Jazz Forum also produces a popular series of outdoor summer concerts at five Hudson River locations: Lyndhurst mansion, Tarrytown’s Pierson Park, Sleepy Hollow’s Horan’s Landing Park, Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park, and Henry Gourdine Park in Ossining.
