Movies on the Lawn: The Goonies

A group of kids from the wrong side of Astoria, Oregon — calling themselves the Goonies — discover an old pirate map in an attic and spend the next two hours outwitting a crime family and navigating booby-trapped caverns in search of the buried treasure of One-Eyed Willy. Written by Chris Columbus from a story by Steven Spielberg, it’s a film that has reliably convinced every generation of children since 1985 that adventure is just a map away. Rated PG.
