The Original Knickerbocker Tour
The Original Knickerbocker: Washington Irving & “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.
Meet the father of the American short story on this one-hour tour of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery! Learn all about Washington Irving, his impact on American Literature and the enduring appeal of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, which recently celebrated its Bicentennial. Best of all, you’ll find out why Irving is called the Original Knickerbocker! You’ll stop at the Receiving Vault and Revolutionary War Memorial, among others and even talk about cool cemetery symbolism along the way.
It’s a fun way to spend an hour exploring the south end of the cemetery!
Dates: Saturdays and Sundays through September from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and 3:00-4:00 p.m. In October also 11:00 a.m. – 12 noon on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as weekdays 2:00-3:00 p.m.
