Christ Church/San Marcos Annual Fall Fair

Christ Church San Marcos, the historic Episcopal parish in Tarrytown where Washington Irving once worshipped, brings back its beloved Fall Fair on October 17, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm — free and open to all. Now in its 187th year, the fair is one of Sleepy Hollow Country’s longest-running community traditions, tracing back to a fundraiser held by the church’s Ladies’ Sewing Society in 1839.
Browse the Boutique for art, jewelry, and collectibles, hunt for deals in the White Elephant sale, or go thrifting for vintage finds at the Clothing Closet. Take a break at the International Café for lunch and homemade treats, then enjoy live music, and crafts and games for kids — a fun day out for the whole family. Don’t miss a historic tour of the church itself for a glimpse of old Tarrytown.
A living piece of Sleepy Hollow history: Founded in 1836, Christ Church grew from a small country church into the gothic-revival landmark that stands today, and merged with its sister parish, St. Mark’s, in 1952. Washington Irving — author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” — was a devoted parishioner, serving as vestryman, warden, and Sunday School teacher until his death in 1859; his pew is still marked in the sanctuary, and the ivy on the church walls was cut from his home, Sunnyside. Today the parish, led by the Rev. William M. Baker, continues that spirit of community service: its church hall has housed the Community Food Pantry of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown since 2009, and it also runs a Clothing Closet, the Susan Fund youth scholarship program, Saturday night concerts, and the annual Day of Defiant Hope social justice forum.
