SUMMARY:Irvington Farmers Market
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy live music\, river views and a laid-back setting at this small-town Sunday market showcasing the best of what the Hudson Valley has to offer. In season\, there’s fresh local produce\, seafood and meats\, cheese\, pickles\, prepared foods and baked goods\, with live music most weeks. \nThe Irvington Farmers Market runs Sunday mornings outdoors on the grounds of the Main Street School\, a short stroll from Washington Irving’s home\, Sunnyside. Look for the life-sized statue of Irving’s character Rip Van Winkle at the southwestern corner of the school property\, facing Main Street. The market sits right on the leafy Old Croton Aqueduct Trail and is an easy walk from the Irvington Metro-North station\, so many shoppers arrive on foot or by bike — see Sleepy Hollow Without a Car for train details. \nRun by Morning Glory Markets\, the outdoor season runs Sundays from spring through late fall. A separate winter market operates indoors on Saturdays in the off-season; check the organizer’s site for this year’s exact dates. \nGetting there: Sunday parking is available on the village streets and in the municipal lot at the top of Main Street. Avoid the permit-only lot across from the Main Street School. \nSundays\, 9 am to 1:30 pm\, rain or shine. Well-behaved dogs are welcome\, provided your pooch is leashed. \nPlanning a fall visit? The Irvington market is the Sunday counterpart to Saturday’s TaSH market in Tarrytown — see how it anchors a low-key morning in A Perfect Fall Day in Sleepy Hollow.

DESCRIPTION:Step inside one of the Hudson River’s most beloved landmarks. Join a 45-minute interpreter-led tour of the Tarrytown Lighthouse in Sleepy Hollow and discover the story of this 1883 cast-iron “sparkplug” light — from its years guiding steamships past dangerous shoals to the keepers and families who once called its five-story tower home. \nNow restored to its historic appearance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places\, the lighthouse sits at the water’s edge in Kingsland Point Park\, reached by a scenic 10-minute stroll from either inside Kingsland Point Park or from the RiverWalk entrance at the foot of Beekman Avenue. \nTours are free; reservations are required and parking fees may apply. Please note: the lighthouse is accessed by four narrow stairways\, there are no restrooms inside (restrooms are available in the park)\, and the front gate locks 15 minutes after the tour begins. SUMMARY:Movies on the Lawn: ET
DESCRIPTION:A ten-year-old boy in a California suburb discovers an alien botanist accidentally left behind by his crew\, hides him in his bedroom\, and spends the rest of the film trying to get him home before the government does. Elliott\, his older brother\, and his little sister Gertie form a makeshift family around their strange houseguest\, communicating through a psychic link that lets them share feelings across distance. Spielberg made it as a children’s film and then didn’t soften a thing — the loneliness is real\, the bureaucratic menace is real\, and the ending earns every tear. John Williams wrote the score. It remains one of the highest-grossing films ever made. Rated PG. \nPart of Tarrytown House Estate’s Movies on the Lawn series\, held on the estate grounds above the Hudson. Screenings begin around sunset. Check the estate’s series page for what to bring\, food and drink service\, and the rain plan.

SUMMARY:Sleepy Hollow Cinema Presents: Exorcist II & Boorman and the Devil
DESCRIPTION:Sleepy Hollow Cinema returns to the Lyceum for a double feature pairing one of horror’s most notorious misfires with the documentary that finally makes sense of it. Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)\, John Boorman’s ambitious and wildly divisive follow-up to William Friedkin’s genre-defining original\, bombed with critics and audiences on release — but has spent the decades since building a devoted cult following. Screening alongside it is a Westchester-exclusive premiere of Boorman and the Devil (2025)\, David Kittredge’s acclaimed new documentary on the making — and unmaking — of the film\, featuring new interviews with cast and crew\, including Boorman himself\, who breaks a near 50-year silence to speak on the record about how Exorcist II came to be. \nTickets and showtimes available at sleepyhollowcinema.org/events. \nTimes: Exorcist II: The Heretic — 7:15 PM · Boorman and the Devil — 9:30 PM\nTickets: $16 per film\, or $27 for the double feature.

SUMMARY:Melissa Etheridge: RISE
DESCRIPTION:Melissa Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album\, which led to an appearance on the 1989 Grammy Awards show. For several years\, her popularity grew around such memorable originals as “Bring Me Some Water\,” “No Souvenirs” and “Ain’t It Heavy\,” for which she won a Grammy in 1992. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album\, Yes I Am (1993). The collection featured the massive hits\, “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window\,” a searing song of longing that brought Etheridge her second Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Performance. In 1995\, Etheridge issued her highest charting album\, Your Little Secret\, which was distinguished by the hit single\, “I Want to Come Over.” Her astounding success that year led to Etheridge receiving the Songwriter of the Year honor at the ASCAP Pop Awards in 1996. \nKnown for her confessional lyrics and raspy\, smoky vocals\, Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singers for more than two decades. In February 2007\, Melissa Etheridge celebrated a career milestone with a victory in the “Best Song” category at the Academy Awards for “I Need to Wake Up\,” written for the Al Gore documentary on global warming\, An Inconvenient Truth. As a performer and songwriter\, Etheridge has shown herself to be an artist who has never allowed “inconvenient truths” to keep her down. Earlier in her recording career\, Etheridge acknowledged her sexual orientation when it was considered less than prudent to do so. In October 2004\, Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer\, a health battle that\, with her typical tenacity\, she won. Despite losing her hair from chemotherapy\, Etheridge appeared on the 2005 Grammy telecast to sing “Piece of My Heart” in tribute to Janis Joplin. By doing so she gave hope to many women afflicted with the disease.
