SUMMARY:Peek-a-Boo (An Immersive Hudson Valley Haunt)
DESCRIPTION:After a sold-out run in 2024\, River’s Edge Theatre Company is bringing its provocative immersive show Peek-a-Boo back to Bethany Arts Community this October. Inspired by hidden histories of the Hudson Valley\, this one-of-a-kind theatrical experience is brimming with intimate encounters\, voyeuristic thrills\, and deeply human performances. \nWritten by Meghan Covington (Artistic Director of River’s Edge Theatre Company) and directed by Jessica Irons (Artistic Director of Theater O)\, Peek-a-Boo is inspired by the infamous Peek-a-Boo Flats\, a controversial club on Wildey Street in Tarrytown during the early 20th century. The show also weaves in historical figures such as Hulda the Witch\, John Andre\, and Sadie the Goat\, transforming real Hudson Valley lore into an immersive world of intrigue\, danger\, and desire. \nAudience members are invited to step back in time to a 1920s-style vaudeville and burlesque show—complete with dancers\, illicit potions\, and shadowy hallways where secrets are whispered and stories unfold. Guests follow characters through the club’s hidden spaces\, and if they are lucky may even find themselves the sole spectator of an exclusive private scene. \nThis year’s production keeps the beloved characters and core story from 2024 but introduces brand-new secret scenes to surprise returning audiences and keep the narrative alive and evolving. \nWhile Peek-a-Boo offers a tantalizing and spooky night out\, it also reflects River’s Edge Theatre Company’s mission to inspire social change. Beneath the spectacle lie resonant themes of criminal justice reform\, forgiveness\, and second chances. The company will once again partner with Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prisons\, encouraging donations to support their work providing college education\, life skills\, and reentry support to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. \n\n\n\n\n\nPatrons should note that this production is intended for mature audiences only.

SUMMARY:The Man Behind the Legend
DESCRIPTION:Meet the man behind the Legend! In his most famous short story Washington Irving says of Sleepy Hollow Country\, “If ever I should wish for a retreat whither I might steal from the world and its distractions\, and dream quietly away the remnant of a troubled life\, I know of none more promising than this little valley.” \nWhat better way to spend an evening in Sleepy Hollow than with the original dreamer himself\, Mr. Washington Irving! For a limited number of nights\, the master storyteller himself will visit from the beyond the grave to regale you with stories and tales not from his many famous works\, but from his very own life! This evening talk amongst the tombstones in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery will leave you amused and appreciative of just how extraordinary Washington Irving was. \nIrving was the life of the party before he went six feet under. Don’t miss this chance to meet him now! \nPlease note this is a seated performance\, not a walking tour. The event will be held outdoors\, weather permitting. In the case of inclement weather it will move indoors.

DESCRIPTION:Join this guided tour created by Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk and discover the historic lore and spirits that linger at The Tarrytown Music Hall. \nThe Tarrytown Music Hall was built in 1885 during the Millionaire’s Colony Era when mansions dotted the Hudson Valley landscape and families such as the Rockefellers\, Goulds and Vanderbilts gathered at the Music Hall to participate in its lavish balls\, flower shows and concerts. SUMMARY:Double Feature: The Evil Dead and The Velvet Vampire
DESCRIPTION:Prepare for a night of blood\, beauty\, and pure cult terror! Our double feature pairs The Evil Dead (1981)—Sam Raimi’s relentless\, cabin-in-the-woods nightmare of demonic possession—with The Velvet Vampire (1971)\, a sultry\, sun-soaked horror that blends desire and death in the desert. From chainsaws to crimson kisses\, this is a grindhouse dream come true—two shocking visions of horror that prove evil comes in many forms. Dare to stay for both… if you can.
