It’s got everything from “witchy” brews to a costume contest\, perfect for those who think their scarecrow outfit is next-level fabulous. The day kicks off with a Drag Queen Story Hour (because why not?)\, followed by live music\, old-school games\, a raffle\, and a chance to craft your own wand. Expect prizes\, laughs\, and more treats than tricks. It’s Halloween\, but with glitter and sass! \n\n9 am – 10 am Drag Queen Story Hour by the Wicked Witch and the Good Witch\n10 am – 12 pm Live Music by Marianna Overdrive\n9 am – 11 am Decorate a trick or treat bag with Kids Upcycling Club\n11 am – 1 pm Foraged Wands Craft by The Wreath Forager\n\n\nYou may ask yourself\, why there is a Good Witch Coffee Bar and a Scarecrow’s Ball in the land of the Headless Horseman? The Hastings-on-Hudson Historical Society explains: “Mary William Ethelbert Appleton ‘Billie’ Burke\, best known as the good witch Glinda in the 1939 film version of ‘The Wizard of Oz\,’ began her film and stage career in 1907. She was 24 years old and already a star when she bought the Kirkham estate on Broadway in Hastings in 1910. The estate possessed a fine mansion that Billie re-christened Burkeley Crest.”

SUMMARY:The Robert Cray Band - Groovin’ for 50 Years!
DESCRIPTION:Blues icon. Soul man. Rock and roller. Robert Cray is all these things – and more. The Georgia- born\, Washington-raised musician first picked up a guitar after seeing The Beatles on TV then\, having witnessed Jimi Hendrix perform in Seattle\, determined that his destiny would also follow a similar path. And so he has: across the past half century Robert Cray’s developed into one of American music’s most singular artists. \nFrom forming a teenage garage band\, through to striding the stage alongside several of the world’s greatest guitarists\, Robert Cray’s story is one of struggle and commitment. Struggle and commitment that led to Cray enjoying phenomenal success – selling millions of albums and countless concert tickets\, winning five Grammy Awards\, being inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame\, recipient of the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award\, designing two signature model Fender guitars – yet for Robert what’s always mattered most is the music. Every note he plays counts\, every song he sings is delivered as if it is his last: integrity and intensity are what has guided Cray’s musical career. He has never cheapened his output or delivered a substandard performance. Indeed\, his commitment to making music of the highest standard has won Cray both a loyal audience and the respect of many of popular music’s most legendary figures.

SUMMARY:The Man Behind the Legend
DESCRIPTION:Meet the man behind the Legend! In his most famous short story Washington Irving says of Sleepy Hollow Country\, “If ever I should wish for a retreat whither I might steal from the world and its distractions\, and dream quietly away the remnant of a troubled life\, I know of none more promising than this little valley.” \nWhat better way to spend an evening in Sleepy Hollow than with the original dreamer himself\, Mr. Washington Irving! For a limited number of nights\, the master storyteller himself will visit from the beyond the grave to regale you with stories and tales not from his many famous works\, but from his very own life! This evening talk amongst the tombstones in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery will leave you amused and appreciative of just how extraordinary Washington Irving was. \nIrving was the life of the party before he went six feet under. Don’t miss this chance to meet him now! \nPlease note this is a seated performance\, not a walking tour. The event will be held indoors on 10/18 and 10/19 and outdoors\, weather permitting\, 10/25 and 10/26.

SUMMARY:Peek-a-Boo (An Immersive Hudson Valley Haunt)
DESCRIPTION:River’s Edge Theatre Company and Bethany Arts Community are teaming up yet again to bring a spooky\, immersive theatre production to Westchester this fall. \nPeek-a-Boo\, written by Meghan Covington (Artistic Director of River’s Edge Theatre Company) and directed by Jessica Irons (Artistic Director of Theater O) is an experimental new play inspired by the real Peek-a-Boo flats of Tarrytown\, NY as well as popular historical figures from the Hudson Valley Region. The Peek-a-Boo\, a popular yet controversial club located on Wildey Street in Tarrytown in the early 20th century\, was often criticized by local residents. Yet\, the flats never had a shortage of customers. \nIn this production\, patrons are invited to go back in time to the Peek-a-Boo (Bethany Arts Community) and attend a 1920’s style vaudeville/burlesque show. There they can drink the potions\, delight in the dancers\, and let their senses run wild. Once they are spellbound\, patrons can then follow characters such as Hulda the Witch\, John Andre\, and Sadie the Goat on their journeys throughout the Peek-a-boo\, learning dark secrets and scandalous confessions. Scary storytelling and immersive theatre combine to make this show the perfect Halloween experience for Hudson Valley residents and tourists alike. \nRiver’s Edge Theatre Company’s mission is to inspire social change\, and each of the company’s productions tackle important societal issues that affect our local and global communities. While Peek-a-Boo is designed to take the audience members on a fun and spooky ride\, the play itself deals with themes surrounding criminal justice reform\, forgiveness\, and the importance of second chances. 10% of the ticket sales will go to Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prisons\, a nonprofit with the mission to provide college education\, life skills\, and reentry support to currently and formerly incarcerated people so they can make a positive impact on their own lives\, their families\, and communities\, resulting in lower rates of recidivism and higher rates of employment\, community regeneration\, cohesiveness\, and reciprocity.

SUMMARY:The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - a Radio Play
DESCRIPTION:The Legend of Sleepy Hollow – a Radio Play is an adaptation of Washington’s Irving classic work. Eight actors perform almost every word of the original short story\, and also work as foley (sound effects) artists. Live music performed by Blake Rowe helps to set the scene. The “live studio audience” will be transported back to 1790 Dutch New York\, where witchcraft is real… and a headless Hessian rider menaces poor Ichabod Crane. \nThe performance takes place in the chapel of the beautiful and historic Scarborough Presbyterian Church\, which was funded by Elliot Fitch Shepard and Margaret Louisa Vanderbilt and dedicated in 1895. \nWill Ichabod’s intellect and standing as Sleepy Hollow’s school teacher be enough for him to charm the lovely (and rich) Katrina van Tassel\, or will his rival Brom Bones win her heart? Come and find out! \n2024 Dates: Friday\, October 25th\, 7:30 pm; Saturday\, October 26th\, 2 pm and 7:30 pm; Sunday\, October 27th\, 2 pm.

SUMMARY:Hulda’s Night at Rockefeller State Park Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Hulda’s Night at Rockefeller State Park Preserve is like nothing else you’ve ever experienced. Step back in time on this very special night in the woods of the real Sleepy Hollow! \nYou walk through the gathering gloom\, your path lit only by lanterns. The dark woods surround you as the chill night air settles in. Your group joins a traveler around his fire and listens to local legends (The Storyteller). But your journey has only begun\, and you must not tarry. Up Old Gory Brook Road\, Domine Johannes Ritzema\, Pastor of the Old Dutch Church during the Revolutionary War\, waits to tell you the struggles of holding a congregation together during the time of war and of the witch living nearby threatening his flock (Pastor Ritzema’s Story). \nAs you trek down to the Witch’s Spring trail\, in the distance the magical fairy lights tell you that you are nearing Hulda’s Hut and the “witch” awaits you! Here you sit in hand-carved seats made from the very trees that surround you\, on the site where Hulda’s home may have stood nearly 250 years ago\, and hear her tell her story (Hulda’s Story). \nThe coyotes howl and remind you that you are not alone in these woods as you start back (The Journey Home). There is a war raging on all sides of you and highway robbery is the order of the day. So you must take care\, keep quiet\, and choose your words carefully with any you might meet along the way. \n2024 dates: October 16-19 and October 23-26. Two sessions per night. \nCost: Tickets will go on sale September 9\, 2024 at 10 am. Don’t hesitate\, this event sells out quickly! \nFor reservations and info: info@huldasnight.com\, https://www.eventbrite.com/e/huldas-night-tickets-1007045298597

SUMMARY:Ghost Tours of Tarrytown Music Hall
DESCRIPTION:Join this guided tour created by Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk and discover the historic lore and spirits that linger at The Tarrytown Music Hall. \nThe Tarrytown Music Hall was built in 1885 during the Millionaire’s Colony Era when mansions dotted the Hudson Valley landscape and families such as the Rockefellers\, Goulds and Vanderbilts gathered at the Music Hall to participate in its lavish balls\, flower shows and concerts. Since then\, the Music Hall has been a reflection of the human spirit\, mirroring the current events of the town and the rest of the world. In addition to Presidents’ speeches\, it has hosted women’s suffrage rallies and endured several wars\, depressions and pandemics including those of 1918 and 2019. It is a vessel through which many people pass. And some don’t leave . . . \nThe building is an official site of the Haunted History Trail of New York. Gotham Paranormal Research Society has investigated the Music Hall several times and has consistently detected paranormal activity including intriguing EVP (electronic voice phenomena) audio files and EMF (electromagnetic field) readings. \nThe 45-minute tour kicks off in the theater lobby and does include climbing stairs and extended periods of standing. Times vary by date. \n2024 dates: September 26. October 2\, 5\, 6\, 8\, 9\, 15\, 16\, 24\, 31. November 5.
