SUMMARY:Ghost Tours of Tarrytown Music Hall
DESCRIPTION:Join this guided tour created by Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk and discover the historic lore and spirits that linger at The Tarrytown Music Hall. \nThe Tarrytown Music Hall was built in 1885 during the Millionaire’s Colony Era when mansions dotted the Hudson Valley landscape and families such as the Rockefellers\, Goulds and Vanderbilts gathered at the Music Hall to participate in its lavish balls\, flower shows and concerts. Since then\, the Music Hall has been a reflection of the human spirit\, mirroring the current events of the town and the rest of the world. In addition to Presidents’ speeches\, it has hosted women’s suffrage rallies and endured several wars\, depressions and pandemics including those of 1918 and 2019. It is a vessel through which many people pass. And some don’t leave . . . \nThe building is an official site of the Haunted History Trail of New York. Gotham Paranormal Research Society has investigated the Music Hall several times and has consistently detected paranormal activity including intriguing EVP (electronic voice phenomena) audio files and EMF (electromagnetic field) readings. \nThe 45-minute tour kicks off in the theater lobby and does include climbing stairs and extended periods of standing. Times vary by date. \n2024 dates: September 26. October 2\, 5\, 6\, 8\, 9\, 15\, 16\, 24\, 31. November 5.

November 5.

SUMMARY:Hulda’s Night at Rockefeller State Park Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Hulda’s Night at Rockefeller State Park Preserve is like nothing else you’ve ever experienced. Step back in time on this very special night in the woods of the real Sleepy Hollow! \nYou walk through the gathering gloom\, your path lit only by lanterns. The dark woods surround you as the chill night air settles in. Your group joins a traveler around his fire and listens to local legends (The Storyteller). But your journey has only begun\, and you must not tarry. Up Old Gory Brook Road\, Domine Johannes Ritzema\, Pastor of the Old Dutch Church during the Revolutionary War\, waits to tell you the struggles of holding a congregation together during the time of war and of the witch living nearby threatening his flock (Pastor Ritzema’s Story). \nAs you trek down to the Witch’s Spring trail\, in the distance the magical fairy lights tell you that you are nearing Hulda’s Hut and the “witch” awaits you! Here you sit in hand-carved seats made from the very trees that surround you\, on the site where Hulda’s home may have stood nearly 250 years ago\, and hear her tell her story (Hulda’s Story). \nThe coyotes howl and remind you that you are not alone in these woods as you start back (The Journey Home). There is a war raging on all sides of you and highway robbery is the order of the day. So you must take care\, keep quiet\, and choose your words carefully with any you might meet along the way. \n2024 dates: October 16-19 and October 23-26. Two sessions per night. \nCost: Tickets will go on sale September 9\, 2024 at 10 am. SUMMARY:Sketching Light: Chagall's Windows for Union Church
DESCRIPTION:Sketching Light: Chagall’s Windows for Union Church provides a rare opportunity for visitors to explore the creative process of renowned artist Marc Chagall (1887-1985). \nIn the 1960s\, Chagall was commissioned by the Rockefeller family to create a large stained-glass window in memory of John D. Rockefeller\, Jr.\, as well as eight smaller windows\, for Union Church of Pocantico Hills. The resulting jewel-toned panels depict Old and New Testament subjects\, including the parable of the Good Samaritan and several Hebrew prophets. \nSketching Light features 27 mixed media works on paper from Chagall’s preparatory studies for the project. These works\, acquired by David Rockefeller in 1975 for the Rockefeller Archive Center\, will be on public display for the first time since 1978. \nChagall’s first ideas for each window are roughly laid out in pencil or ink sketches. In successive iterations\, he adds color with paint\, pastel\, and collage to create a multi-media maquette. It was important to Chagall that the maquettes capture the effect of sunlight on glass through the color values and opacity he depicted in the sketches. \nOne of the most renowned modernists of the 20th century\, Chagall produced 10\,000 works during his 75-year career. Although primarily known as a painter\, the artist worked in a wide variety of materials and techniques\, devoting himself to stained glass during the final decades of his career. Union Church was Marc Chagall’s first stained glass commission in the United States and remains the only church with Chagall windows in the country. \nSketching Light: Chagall’s Windows for Union Church  is a collaboration between the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Rockefeller Archive Center. It is co-curated by Katrina London and Michele Hiltzik Beckerman in celebration of the Archive Center’s 50th Anniversary. \nAll visitors must reserve a free timed-entry ticket prior to visiting. \nVisitors are encouraged to visit Union Church of Pocantico Hills to see the completed windows on a tour led by Historic Hudson Valley. Separate tickets are required. Directions and tour information for Union Church is available at the DR Center and online.

Don’t hesitate\, this event sells out quickly! \nFor reservations and info: info@huldasnight.com\, https://www.eventbrite.com/e/huldas-night-tickets-1007045298597

SUMMARY:Peek-a-Boo (An Immersive Hudson Valley Haunt)
DESCRIPTION:River’s Edge Theatre Company and Bethany Arts Community are teaming up yet again to bring a spooky\, immersive theatre production to Westchester this fall. \nPeek-a-Boo\, written by Meghan Covington (Artistic Director of River’s Edge Theatre Company) and directed by Jessica Irons (Artistic Director of Theater O) is an experimental new play inspired by the real Peek-a-Boo flats of Tarrytown\, NY as well as popular historical figures from the Hudson Valley Region. The Peek-a-Boo\, a popular yet controversial club located on Wildey Street in Tarrytown in the early 20th century\, was often criticized by local residents. Yet\, the flats never had a shortage of customers. \nIn this production\, patrons are invited to go back in time to the Peek-a-Boo (Bethany Arts Community) and attend a 1920’s style vaudeville/burlesque show. There they can drink the potions\, delight in the dancers\, and let their senses run wild. Once they are spellbound\, patrons can then follow characters such as Hulda the Witch\, John Andre\, and Sadie the Goat on their journeys throughout the Peek-a-boo\, learning dark secrets and scandalous confessions. Scary storytelling and immersive theatre combine to make this show the perfect Halloween experience for Hudson Valley residents and tourists alike. \nRiver’s Edge Theatre Company’s mission is to inspire social change\, and each of the company’s productions tackle important societal issues that affect our local and global communities. While Peek-a-Boo is designed to take the audience members on a fun and spooky ride\, the play itself deals with themes surrounding criminal justice reform\, forgiveness\, and the importance of second chances. 10% of the ticket sales will go to Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prisons\, a nonprofit with the mission to provide college education\, life skills\, and reentry support to currently and formerly incarcerated people so they can make a positive impact on their own lives\, their families\, and communities\, resulting in lower rates of recidivism and higher rates of employment\, community regeneration\, cohesiveness\, and reciprocity.

SUMMARY:The Lone Bellow - BY REQUEST ONLY Tour

The Nashville-based trio (Zach Williams\, Brian Elmquist\, Kanene Pipkin) quickly became known for their transcendent harmonies\, serious musicianship and raucous live performance — creating what NPR calls\, ‘earnest and magnetic folk-pop built to shake the rafters.’ \nIn 2015\, the band released Then Came The Morning\, produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner. The album was nominated for an Americana Music Award and took the band to numerous late night shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live\, Late Show With David Letterman and Later…with Jools Holland\, among others. In 2017\, The Lone Bellow returned with Walk Into A Storm\, produced by legendary music producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton\, Brandi Carlile\, Sturgill Simpson)\, followed by 2020’s Half Moon Light\, an artistic triumph the band worked toward for years. \n“By Request Only” Tour is The Lone Bellow’s love letter to their fans.
