SUMMARY:Lyndhurst Tours
DESCRIPTION:Lyndhurst\, one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions\, overlooks the Hudson River in Tarrytown\, NY. The estate was shaped for more than a century by three families and their staff: The Pauldings\, The Merritts\, and the Goulds. Their influence is evident in the expansion of the main house from a country villa to a Gothic mansion\, the park-like design of the grounds\, and the rich furnishings and decorations inside. \nTours begin in April on Saturdays and Sundays\, expand to Thursday through Monday in May\, and Thursday through Tuesday in July. In late September\, the mansion transforms for the Halloween season with special collections and decorations out on display. The site closes in November as the mansion changes to the splendor of the Holiday season and re-opens the Friday after Thanksgiving for tours\, which run until the end of December. \n\nClassic Mansion Tour: Great for first-time visitors. Your visit covers the two main floors of the house.\nUpstairs/Downstairs Tour: Covers the main floors of the mansion with the addition of the backstairs and service spaces.\nInside/Outside Tour: Covers the main floors of the mansion\, then progresses through recently restored “outdoor rooms” in the rockeries\, rare trees\, gardens and outbuildings.\nLyndhurst Ramble Tour: In celebration of the Hudson River Valley Ramble\, a two- walking tour of the historic estate.\nDaily Grounds Pass: Enjoy the landscape; no tour\, no entry to mansion.\n\nLocation: Lyndhurst is a 67-acre estate\, with 15 individual buildings. All tour ticket holders should check in at the Carriage House Welcome Center\, where all tours begin. The Welcome Center is only open on days that tours are running. Parking is available on-site in designated areas. Please refer to their website for up-to-date information on events\, tour schedules\, closures\, and guidelines about visiting.

SUMMARY:Classic Daytime Cemetery Tour
DESCRIPTION:Soak up the beauty of this 174-year old cemetery while your guide regales you with stories of the fascinating people resting here in peace. \nThis two-hour daytime walk is the perfect way “to have a colloquy among the tombs” as Washington Irving\, famous author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”\, did himself back in 1849. \nYou’ll pay homage to the great author\, stop by some of the most interesting monuments in the old section before heading north to visit the final resting places of two-term Chicago Mayor Walter Gurnee\, steel titan Andrew Carnegie\, oilman William Rockefeller\, two people vital to the success of Wells Fargo and American Express\, and much more. Admire beautiful art\, architecture and cool cemetery symbolism along the way.  This tour gives a great overview of why Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is so famous. \nPlease note that the Classic Daytime Tour is the same route as the Classic Evening Lantern tour. The content is exactly the same – it just starts in a different location. \nDates: Every Saturday and Sunday 2:00 – 4:00 p.m in September. In October and November also 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon through Thanksgiving weekend.

SUMMARY:Mike LeDonne's Groover Quartet
DESCRIPTION:When The Jazz Forum acquired its new Hammond B-3 organ last year\, there was only one group they could ask to debut it – Mike LeDonne’s Groovers. For over 20 years\, keyboard great Mike LeDonne has been at the B-3 to lead The Groover Quartet in a wildly popular weekly “grits and gravy” jazz gig at Smoke in Manhattan. \nHe’s bringing that sound back to Tarrytown with this outstanding group of soulful\, top-notch musicians. Groover Quartet features Eric Alexander\, Peter Bernstein and Kenny Washington. \nLeDonne started playing piano at the age of 5 and was raised in his parent’s music store. By the age of 10 his father\, a jazz guitarist\, began booking him on gigs. He is now an internationally renowned pianist and organist with the unique experience of having played with a wide spectrum of jazz masters from Benny Goodman to Milt Jackson and Sonny Rollins. \n\nJazz Forum\, Westchester County’s only dedicated jazz club\, is tucked away on a side street in downtown Tarrytown. Drawing musicians from around the world\, the club strives to make music affordable and accessible. Headline jazz artists perform on Friday and Saturday nights with two sets per night at 7 and 9:30 pm. Two Sunday afternoon sets at 4 pm and 6 pm often feature Brazilian and Latin jazz. Check the club’s website for each weekend’s performer list and to purchase tickets. Many shows sell out in advance\, get yours early. \nThe Jazz Forum offers a full menu including entrées\, dinner plates\, cured meats and cheese\, tapenades and house-made desserts. It has a full bar and features fine Italian wines\, local draft beers and specialty cocktails. The food and drink menu is available for all Friday\, Saturday and Sunday shows. \nJazz Forum also produces a popular series of outdoor summer concerts at five Hudson River locations: Lyndhurst mansion\, Tarrytown’s Pierson Park\, Sleepy Hollow’s Horan’s Landing Park\, Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park\, and Henry Gourdine Park in Ossining.
