SUMMARY:Birding at Rockefeller State Park Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Rockefeller State Park Preserve together with adjoining private lands is one of the largest undeveloped tracts of land in Westchester County. With its mix of woodlands\, fields\, wetlands and a lake\, the Preserve supports a diversity of species\, especially birds. Come find out why the National Audubon Society has designated this an Important Bird Area. A hint: nearly 200 bird species have been spotted here! Our local Audubon chapter\, Saw Mill River Audubon\, regularly leads small group bird walks here. Group sizes are limited\, registration is required. They are good for all levels of birding experience and beginners are very welcome! Walks are for adults and youth age 8 or older. Let the society know in advance if you want to borrow binoculars by emailing them at: office@sawmillriveraudubon.org

SUMMARY:The Moth - True Stories Told Live
DESCRIPTION:An evening of storytelling from the producers of the popular Moth Podcast and Radio Hour. The Moth is true stories\, told live and without notes. Since its founding\, The Moth has presented more than fifteen thousand stories\, told live and without notes\, to standing-room-only crowds worldwide. \nThe group celebrates the ability of stories to honor both the diversity and commonality of human experience\, and to satisfy a vital human need for connection. It seeks to present recognized storytellers among established and emerging writers\, performers and artists and to encourage storytelling among communities whose stories often go unheard. \nThe Moth began on a back porch in small-town Georgia\, where its founder—poet and best-selling novelist George Dawes Green—would spend sultry summer evenings swapping spellbinding tales with a small circle of friends. There was a hole in the screen\, which let in moths that were attracted to the light\, and the group started calling themselves “The Moths.” When he moved to New York City\, George wanted to recreate the feeling of those nights in his adopted city. The first New York Moth event was held in George’s living room. But word spread fast\, and the events soon moved to cafes and clubs throughout the city—and soon to popular venues throughout the country and beyond.

SUMMARY:Sara Caswell Quartet
DESCRIPTION:A world-class musician\, a Downbeat poll winner and Grammy nominee\, Sara Caswell is a first-call jazz violinist whose demanding schedule has been so booked that she’s been unable to devote time to studio projects of her own – until now. \nHer new album The Way To You\, her first as a leader in 17 years\, is cause for celebration and Sara Caswell brings her stellar band she’s led for a decade to Tarrytown’s Jazz Forum. Don’t miss it. \n“Sara Caswell is an anointed musician. From the first splash of tone pouring out of her violin\, we are invited into a visceral sensation of deep-spirited passion\, harnessed and polished through artistic devotion. As always\, Sara’s playing soothes my spirit\, and inspires my mind. I am very grateful for her most recent offering\, and excited on behalf of the many listeners who will receive the sonic blessings contained therein.” – Esperanza Spalding

DESCRIPTION:The Houston Person Quartet featuring Larry Fuller on piano\, Saudi Zain on bass and Vince Ector on drums! \nNothing\, it seems\, stops Houston Person\, the reigning King of the Boss Tenor who is now in his sixth decade of performing. His new record (he’s released over 85 of them)\, Live In Paris\, just received four stars from The Guardian\, which lauded its “easy brilliance.” \nHis tone has gotten bigger even as his delivery has mellowed. A great friend of The Jazz Forum — he’s played in the Jazz Forum All-Stars – Houston is a master’s master.

SUMMARY:Houston Person Quartet

SUMMARY:An Evening with Bruce Hornsby
DESCRIPTION:Bruce Hornsby returns to Tarrytown Music Hall for an intimate solo performance. Bruce has built one of the most diverse\, collaborative\, and adventurous careers in contemporary music. Drawing from a vast wellspring of American musical traditions\, the singer/pianist/composer/bandleader has created a large and accomplished body of work and employed a vast array of stylistic approaches. Throughout this period\, Hornsby has maintained the integrity\, virtuosity and artistic curiosity that have been hallmarks of his work from the start. \nHornsby and his band The Range’s first album “The Way It Is” (1986) was steadily and slowly building in popularity in the U.S. when in August the title track exploded on BBC Radio One in England\, then Europe\, the rest of the world and finally in the United States. The record went on to sell three million records\, the band played Saturday Night Live and opened for Steve Winwood\, John Fogerty\, Huey Lewis\, the Grateful Dead and the Eurythmics before becoming headliners on their own tour supported by Crowded House. His three Grammy wins ( along with his ten Grammy losses!) typify the diversity of his career: Best New Artist (1986) as leader of Bruce Hornsby and the Range\, Best Bluegrass Recording (1989) for a version of his old Range hit “The Valley Road” that appeared on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Will The Circle Be Unbroken Volume Two\, and a shared award with Branford Marsalis in 1993 for Best Pop Instrumental for “Barcelona Mona”\, a song written and performed for the 1992 Olympic Games.

SUMMARY:Anthony Rodia
DESCRIPTION:A first-generation Italian-American born and raised right here in Westchester County\, New York\, Anthony Rodia came out of the womb making people laugh. In his 20’s he tried a few open mics\, but ultimately took a different career path as a finance manager of a luxury car dealership. In 2019\, Rodia returned to comedy and left his day job to become a full-time stand-up comic. He hit the ground running and performed 100 shows in just nine months\, and within three years Anthony has gained a massive fan base online and around the country.\nIn a very short time\, Anthony gained over 900\,000 social media followers and his YouTube videos have amassed over 22 million views. Rodia’s comedy pulls from his real life and razor-sharp observations on marriage\, parenthood\, road rage\, and everything else worthy of a social media rant. \nWith the onset of quarantine\, Anthony made the most of a captive audience\, delivering a staggering 86 weekly videos. “ROAD RAGE WEDNESDAY” became a fan favorite\, but his Uncle Vinny and Zia Lucia characters transformed into a phenomenon. They are the crazy uncle and aunt you love but can’t be out in public with\, who speak their minds (whether you asked for it or not). \nIn 2021\, Anthony launched Rodia Wines\, which include a Zia Lucia’s White Blend and Uncle Vinny’s Red Blend that both pair perfectly with any of your favorite Italian dishes. Rodia Wines will soon be available in local retail stores and is currently available online at https://rodiawines.myshopify.com/. \nRodia also host the weekly podcast\, Little Bit of Laughs on Podcast One. Get to know the comedian behind your favorite viral videos and stand-up comedy alongside his co-host and radio legend Goumba Johnny. Join Anthony and Goumba as they get into hot topics\, rants\, pranks\, and listener’s questions and stories. \nAnthony has appeared on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show\, FOX’s Good Day New York\, and Elizabeth & Elisa on News 12\, he quietly claimed the throne of “KING OF OFF THE BOAT COMEDY.” \nRodia is currently selling out comedy clubs and theaters across the country on his The Road Rage Tour.

SUMMARY:The Manhattan Transfer 50th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:The 10-time Grammy-winning vocal group\, The Manhattan Transfer\, is celebrating 50 years of their distinctive and eclectic sound with what they are calling their “final world tour.” \nFounded in 1972 and named after the 1925 novel by John Dos Passos\, the quartet has broken the boundaries among genres. In 1981 they won Grammys in both pop and jazz categories — and also broke records by winning 12 Grammy nominations for their 1985 album\, “Vocalese.” \nThe original members were the late Tim Hauser (bass)\, Janis Siegel (alto)\, Alan Paul (tenor) and Laurel Masse (soprano). When Masse left the group after a car accident in 1979\, Cheryl Bentyne replaced her; when Hauser died in 2014\, Trist Curless took over his part. Since then\, the group has remained the same. Their newest release of 30 albums is “FIFTY” (2022)\, and they are members of the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

SUMMARY:Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Tower Chimes
DESCRIPTION:A musical celebration on the 100th anniversary of the cemetery’s Washington Irving Memorial Tower Chimes! \n\n\nInstalled in 1923 but silent for decades\, the cemetery’s 10-note Deagan Tower Chimes were recently restored to operation. Local church organists will demonstrate how this unique instrument is played by keyboard. Join Washington Irving himself as he awakens these chimes from their Rip Van Winkle-like slumber! \nThe J. C. Deagan Company of Chicago manufactured and installed about 440 sets of tower chimes over a period of about 40 years. Many have since been scrapped or lost to when the structures which housed them were razed. Of the Deagan tower installations that remain in their original locations\, only a handful are in operating condition. Sleepy Hollow Cemetery‘s set is one of only four in New York State known to be working. \nRain or shine.
