SUMMARY:Octagon House Classic Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Armour-Stiner Octagon House\, a registered National Historic Landmark\, was created as a summer retreat by tea-importer Joseph Stiner. Its shape was based on the theories of Orson Squire Fowler\, a phrenologist\, who believed octagonal houses enclosed more space\, allowed the sun in at all times\, and permitted more views into the landscape. \nThe tour includes a brief history of specimen plants original to the property\, the carefully restored Lord and Burnham greenhouse\, the wonderfully romantic foxglove garden\, (shaped in the exact size and footprint of the house itself!)\, and the charming Octagonal birdhouse\, (a scaled-down replica of the house). Visitors will also experience the house’s wrap-around veranda that offers 360-degree views of the lush landscape\, as well as particular architectural details which relate specifically to native plants and foliage of the grounds. Finally\, the tour will continue inside the house with an interior tour of the first\, second and third floors\, which retain their magnificent ornamentation and furnishings. \nTimed tours only\, last tour of the day starts at 4 pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance. \nThe Octagon House is a private residence. In exchange for the opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind historic home\, all visitors must follow house rules.

SUMMARY:Benny Benack III Quintet
DESCRIPTION:Making his Jazz Forum Debut! \nBy age 28\, trumpeter and singer Benny Benack III has proven to be a rare talent: not only a fiery trumpet player with a stirring command of the postbop trumpet vernacular in the vein of Kenny Dorham and Blue Mitchell\, but also a singer with a sly\, mature\, naturally expressive delivery in the post-Sinatra mold\, performing standards and his own astute songs with a thrilling sense of showmanship. \nHis superb intonation and bracing virtuosity enable him to handle astounding feats of originally composed vocalese (complex solos with written lyrics). SUMMARY:Henry Rollins - Good to See You 2022
DESCRIPTION:On the Good To See You 2022 tour Henry will faithfully recount the events of his life in the brief pre-COVID period since the last tour and when things got even stranger over the last several months. It’s been an interesting time to say the least and he’s got some great stories to tell. \n\nIn describing Henry Rollins\, the tendency is to try to squeeze as many labels as possible into a single sentence. “Rollins is many things\,” says The Washington Post\, “diatribist\, confessor\, provocateur\, humorist\, even motivational speaker…his is an enthusiastic and engaging chatter.” Entertainment Weekly’s list includes “Punk Rock icon. Spoken word poet. Actor. Author. DJ. Is there anything this guy can’t do?” TV Guide has more concisely called him a “Renaissance Man” but if Henry Rollins could be reduced to a single word\, that word would undoubtedly be “workaholic.” When he’s not traveling\, Rollins prefers a to keep a relentless schedule full of work\, with gigs as an actor\, author\, DJ\, voice-over artist and TV show host to name a few of the roles that keep his schedule full. Rollins has toured the world as a spoken word artist\, as frontman for both Rollins Band and Black Flag and as a solitary traveler with insatiable curiosity\, favoring road-less-traveled locales in places such as Nepal and Sri Lanka.

SUMMARY:American Aristocrats Cemetery Tour
DESCRIPTION:Short on time? Make the most of it and meet the crème de la crème on this one-hour lantern tour of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery! \nThe Gilded Age began after the Civil War and ended around 1900. It was a time of tremendous industrialization and rapid economic growth. Railroads were built to connect the East Coast with the West\, kerosene replaced whale oil and candles to light people’s homes\, and steel production changed city skylines forever. \nMeet some of the American Aristocrats who shaped our country with their ambitious visions and amassed sizable fortunes in the process. You’ll visit the beautiful monuments of Henry Villard\, William Rockefeller\, Andrew Carnegie\, and other interesting folks during this one-hour lantern tour in the north end of the cemetery.
