DESCRIPTION:Along the Aqueduct and within the Rockefeller State Park Preserve. \nFree\, easy\, open-air walk of approximately 3 miles/hours. Meet at Aqueduct Ventilator #12\, on the Aqueduct Trail just steps south of the intersection of Gory Brook Road and Ridge Street in Sleepy Hollow (on-street parking on Gory Brook Road). We will walk north and discuss the Aqueduct and view some of its structures\, including a weir\, a 90-foot high embankment carrying the Aqueduct over the Pocantico River\, the ghostly remnants of an old Keeper’s House\, touch upon Rockefeller history and the monument in nearby Sleepy Hollow Cemetery to those in the NY Guard’s First Provisional Regiment who perished during the 1918 Spanish Influenza pandemic while guarding the Aqueduct during The Great War. She first came to prominence as part of the punk cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls\, earning global applause for their inventive songcraft and wide-ranging theatricality. \nHer solo career has proven equally brave and boundless\, featuring such groundbreaking works as the fan-funded Theatre Is Evil\, which made a top 10 debut on the Billboard 200 in 2012 and remains the top-funded original music project on Kickstarter. In 2013 she presented “The Art of Asking” at the annual TED conference\, which has been viewed over 20 million times worldwide. Palmer expanded her philosophy into the New York Times best-selling memoir\, The Art of Asking: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Let People Help. Since 2015 Palmer has used the patronage platform Patreon to fund her artwork with around 10\,000 patrons supporting her creations each month. In March 2019\, Palmer released her solo album\, There Will Be No Intermission\, with producer/engineer John Congleton at the helm\, the album is a masterwork that includes life\, death\, abortion\, and miscarriage among its tentpole themes. After the Covid pandemic disrupted life as we know it\, Amanda Palmer stayed where she finished up her world tour and found a home amongst the Kiwis in Aotearoa for about 2.5 years. Recently returned to the US\, Amanda has now reinvigorated The Dresden Dolls with drummer\, Brian Viglione and is writing and touring with the group in the lead up to their next release.

DESCRIPTION:Bronx-born and raised Chazz Palminteri wrote A Bronx Tale in 1988. The powerful one-man stage play depicted his bruising childhood which included witnessing a gangland killing when he was nine years old. Palminteri played eighteen characters and brought them all to life in his autobiographical play. His friends\, enemies and family came alive on stage. Hollywood studios went crazy after seeing it and offered him millions of dollars to turn it into a major movie. There was one catch –they wanted to put a star in the role of Sonny and someone else to write the screenplay. \nWith two hundred dollars in the bank\, Palminteri said no. He would hold out and wait. He wanted to play Sonny and write the screenplay. Then\, one night\, Palminteri walked into his dressing room and sitting there was Robert De Niro who just saw the show. Robert DeNiro gave Palminteri the chance he was waiting for\, and as they say in Hollywood\, the rest is history. Palminteri wrote the screenplay for the film A Bronx Tale and then most recently wrote the book for the Broadway Musical. It was the first time in history that the same actor wrote the one-man play\, the moviescript\, and the Broadway Musical and starred in each one. In the past thirty-five years\, Chazz has appeared in over sixty films\, including\, The Usual Suspects\, Analyze This\, Mulholland Falls\, Jade\, Guide to Recognizing Your Saints\, Legend\, and Bullets over Broadway\, which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He has starred in over twenty television series and has won three Emmy Awards. Chazz is most recently appears in the shows Modern Family\, Godfather of Harlem\, Law & Order and Gravesend.

DESCRIPTION:The Old Croton Aqueduct\, New York City’s original water supply\, runs from\, Croton-on-Hudson into the Bronx and Manhattan\, passing through Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. For most of its length\, the Aqueduct is a horseshoe-shaped brick tunnel 8.5 feet high by 7.5 feet wide\, set on a stone foundation and protected with an earthen cover and stone facing at embankment walls. Don’t miss this rare chance to enter one of the historic water diversion chamber to view the tunnel itself! \nThis is a free\, easy\, 2-hour tour operated by Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct. Meet at the benches in front of the Joseph Caputo Center\, which is located at 95 Broadway\, Ossining\, NY 10562\, just west of Rte. 9/Highland Ave. at the junction of Croton Ave. (Rte. 133) (from Metro-North Ossining Train Station by taxi or 15-minute uphill walk). (Parking lots nearby) After a brief walk\, descend into the Weir in Ossining and explore the original 1842 brick water tunnel and learn its history. \nRequired: pre-registration (limited number). Walk will be rescheduled if weather does not cooperate.
