SUMMARY:The Manhattan Transfer 50th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:The 10-time Grammy-winning vocal group\, The Manhattan Transfer\, is celebrating 50 years of their distinctive and eclectic sound with what they are calling their “final world tour.” \nFounded in 1972 and named after the 1925 novel by John Dos Passos\, the quartet has broken the boundaries among genres. In 1981 they won Grammys in both pop and jazz categories — and also broke records by winning 12 Grammy nominations for their 1985 album\, “Vocalese.” \nThe original members were the late Tim Hauser (bass)\, Janis Siegel (alto)\, Alan Paul (tenor) and Laurel Masse (soprano). When Masse left the group after a car accident in 1979\, Cheryl Bentyne replaced her; when Hauser died in 2014\, Trist Curless took over his part. Since then\, the group has remained the same. Their newest release of 30 albums is “FIFTY” (2022)\, and they are members of the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

SUMMARY:Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Tower Chimes
DESCRIPTION:A musical celebration on the 100th anniversary of the cemetery’s Washington Irving Memorial Tower Chimes! \n\n\nInstalled in 1923 but silent for decades\, the cemetery’s 10-note Deagan Tower Chimes were recently restored to operation. Local church organists will demonstrate how this unique instrument is played by keyboard. Join Washington Irving himself as he awakens these chimes from their Rip Van Winkle-like slumber! \nThe J. C. Deagan Company of Chicago manufactured and installed about 440 sets of tower chimes over a period of about 40 years. Many have since been scrapped or lost to when the structures which housed them were razed. Of the Deagan tower installations that remain in their original locations\, only a handful are in operating condition. Sleepy Hollow Cemetery‘s set is one of only four in New York State known to be working. \nRain or shine.

DESCRIPTION:Soak up the beauty of this 174-year old cemetery while your guide regales you with stories of the fascinating people resting here in peace. \nThis two-hour daytime walk is the perfect way “to have a colloquy among the tombs” as Washington Irving\, famous author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”\, did himself back in 1849. \nYou’ll pay homage to the great author\, stop by some of the most interesting monuments in the old section before heading north to visit the final resting places of two-term Chicago Mayor Walter Gurnee\, steel titan Andrew Carnegie\, oilman William Rockefeller\, two people vital to the success of Wells Fargo and American Express\, and much more. SUMMARY:Lez Zeppelin perform PHYSICAL GRAFFITI + More
DESCRIPTION:Lez Zeppelin is a phenomenon. Since their formation in 2004\, the group has stunned audiences all over the world with the musicianship\, passion and gender-bending audacity they bring to the music of Led Zeppelin. Unlike the typical “tribute band” Lez Zeppelin does not seek to imitate. Rather\, they are a she-incarnation of the original. With swagger\, intensity and virtuosity\, these four women cover the entire canon\, performing hits\, deep tracks\, epic compositions and acoustic numbers with utmost authenticity\, as if they’d written the music themselves. Jimmy Page described it best after attending a Lez Zeppelin show in London: “They played the Led Zeppelin music with an extraordinary sensuality and an energy and passion that highlighted their superb musicianship.” \nPhysical Graffiti: In It’s Entirety \nPhysical Graffiti\, the epic double-album released by Led Zeppelin in February 1975\, is perhaps the most beloved and magical of all of their recordings. Simply put\, it is the album EVERYONE wants to hear. For the very first time\, Lez Zeppelin presents Physical Graffiti from start to finish in all of its majesty and diversity. From the mysticism of Kashmir to the rockin’ funk of Trampled Underfoot to the progressive elegance of Ten Years Gone\, Lez Zeppelin delivers passionate\, note-for-note renditions of all 15-songs. Accompanied by a provocative and uniquely curated multimedia presentation\, this full-length\, immersive experience digs deep into the heart and soul of one of rock’s greatest albums.

SUMMARY:The Jayhawks
DESCRIPTION:The Jayhawks and their rootsy sound were definitely swimming against the tide when they emerged from a crowded Minnesota music scene in 1985. Over the course of almost 4 decades\, 11 albums\, countless memorable live shows and enough personal drama to fill a couple of Behind the Music episodes\, this beloved band soared to heights few ever achieve while winning the hearts and minds of numerous critics\, fans and peers in the process. \n\nAfter releasing two Indie albums in the 80s The Jayhawks signed with American Recordings in 1991 and over the next decade released 5 challenging\, at times groundbreaking\, albums\, toured the world to widespread acclaim and even survived the departure of founding member Mark Olson in 1995. After a hiatus in the mid 2000s\, the “classic” 1994 lineup reunited for another new studio album in 2011 and 2 years of solid touring\, reacquainting audiences old and new with the band’s timeless musical vision. 2014 saw a late 90s version of the band led by Gary Louris hitting the road to support the reissues of the 3 Jayhawks albums released from 1997-2003. This lineup released the band’s 9th studio album in 2016\, recorded in Portland\, OR with producers Peter Buck and Tucker Martine. The band’s next studio album\, Back Roads And Abandoned Motels\, was released in the summer of 2018\, featuring Jayhawks versions of songs Gary Louris had previously written with other artists plus 2 new compositions. Recording for a new Jayhawks album was completed in Minnesota in late 2019 and in July 2020 the band released their 11th studio album\, XOXO.
