SUMMARY:Lyndhurst Ramble Tour
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the Hudson River Valley Ramble\, Lyndhurst offers a walking tour of the historic estate\, a Gothic Revival masterpiece overlooking the Hudson River. The site reflects over 180 years of life on the Hudson River covering 67 park-like acres. You will visit the unglazed Lord & Burnham steel-framed greenhouse and enter both the oldest regulation bowling alley in the United States and the 1911 unrestored Pool building. Lyndhurst’s magnificent grounds contain an award-winning rose garden\, a fern garden\, rock garden\, specimen trees\, and the now-aged Lindens for which the property is named. The tour ends with a stroll along landscaped pathways that offer spectacular views of the Hudson River. \nThe 2-hour guided Lyndhurst Ramble Tour starts at the Lyndhurst Welcome Center\, where visitors can check-in and purchase bottled water. Public restrooms are located in the Welcome Center and Bowling Alley Pavilion. \nPlease note that this outdoor tour requires extensive walking on hilly grounds for about two hours. Ramble tours depart rain or shine; the event is canceled in severe weather or lightning. Plan to arrive at the Welcome Center 15 minutes before your tour.

SUMMARY:Classic Daytime Cemetery Tour
DESCRIPTION:Soak up the beauty of this 173-year old cemetery while your guide regales you with stories of the fascinating people resting here in peace. \nThis two-hour daytime walk is the perfect way “to have a colloquy among the tombs” as Washington Irving\, famous author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”\, did himself back in 1849. \nYou’ll pay homage to the great author\, stop by some of the most interesting monuments in the old section before heading north to visit the final resting places of two-term Chicago Mayor Walter Gurnee\, steel titan Andrew Carnegie\, oilman William Rockefeller\, two people vital to the success of Wells Fargo and American Express\, and much more. Admire beautiful art\, architecture and cool cemetery symbolism along the way.  This tour gives a great overview of why Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is so famous. \nPlease note that the Classic Daytime Tour is the same route as the Classic Evening Lantern tour. The content is exactly the same – it just starts in a different location. \nDates: Every Saturday and Sunday 2:00 – 4:00 p.m through November 27th.

SUMMARY:Birding at Rockefeller State Park Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Rockefeller State Park Preserve together with adjoining private lands is one of the largest undeveloped tracts of land in Westchester County. With its mix of woodlands\, fields\, wetlands and a lake\, the Preserve supports a diversity of species\, especially birds. Come find out why the National Audubon Society has designated this an Important Bird Area. A hint: nearly 200 bird species have been spotted here! Our local Audubon chapter\, Saw Mill River Audubon\, regularly leads small group bird walks here. Group sizes are limited\, registration is required. They are good for all levels of birding experience and beginners are very welcome! Walks are for adults and youth age 8 or older. Let the society know in advance if you want to borrow binoculars by emailing them at: office@sawmillriveraudubon.org
