We pair the tales with complimentary cocktails or mocktails designed to capture the spirit of the stories. \nThe evening begins in the Library at Historic Hudson Valley\, where visitors enjoy their first drink while standing among the shelves\, listening to a creepy tale. From there\, the experience deepens in an intimate theater setting\, with three more of Poe’s dark masterpieces performed in turn\, as those gathered sip drinks\, nibble biscotti\, and savor a piece of fine chocolate—indulgences to savor in the night’s shadows. \nOctober 3 – November 1\, performances Fridays-Sundays plus Columbus Day Monday. SUMMARY:An Ode to Francis Saltus Saltus
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening in honor of illustrious poet\, linguist\, musician and scholar Francis Saltus Saltus. Fluent in 10 languages\, the ambidextrous Francis was said to be able to write sonnets with one hand while composing opera with the other simultaneously. He was quite a character\, to put it mildly. \nThe epitome of “live fast\, die young”\, Saltus penned classics like Flasks & Flagons\, an ode to 31 beverages including tea\, hot chocolate\, coffee\, water – and 27 kinds of alcohol. It’s no wonder he died at age 40 in 1889. \nEnjoy a reading of his delightful poems and quaff an adult beverage or two to get in the right spirit before visiting his grave. It will be the perfect way to pay our respects to the talented Mr. Saltus! \nThis is a seated\, indoor event and will run rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather\, we may not visit the poet’s grave.
