SUMMARY:The Mavericks & Friends
DESCRIPTION:For three decades\, The Mavericks carved out their Grammy-winning sound — a multicultural version of American roots music\, blending stateside influences like country and rock & roll with the border-crossing textures of Cuban grooves\, Tex-Mex twang\, and Latin swagger — under the direction of Raul Malo. Raul wasn’t just the band’s frontman; he was its larger-than-life patriarch\, with a booming baritone hailed by Rolling Stone as “operatic\, spiritual\, casually elegant\, and wholly captivating.” With help from musicians like Paul Deakin\, Robert Reynolds\, Eddie Perez\, and Jerry Dale McFadden\, Malo turned The Mavericks into modern-day legends on their own terms\, enjoying mainstream success during the 1990s (when songs like “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down” became staples on country radio) before reinventing themselves as genre-bending independents during the 2010s and beyond. \n“Raul was one of those fine-wine singers\,” says Deakin\, who co-founded the band in 1989 in Miami\, Florida. “His voice was ridiculously powerful when we first started\, and it just got better with age.” \nA battle with cancer forced Raul off the road in 2025\, but his musical influence remained. During his final hours on earth\, he watched from afar as his bandmates played the Ryman Auditorium\, honoring the man and his melodies with help from guest singers\, family members\, and a sold-out crowd. This was more than a concert; it was a celebration of the legacy the Mavericks had built together\, highlighting the staying power of lifelong friendships and great songs. “Raul used to tell me that every time we released new music\, it didn’t belong to us anymore; it belonged to the fans\,” remembers Perez\, whose guitar playing became an integral part of The Mavericks’ sound during their 21st century reunion. “To me\, the band has always transcended the people in it. It’s more about the feeling\, the vibe\, and the high-energy entertainment we give people. We want to continue giving that spirit to our fans.” \nGreat songs endure\, even when their original vocalists are no longer here to sing them. There’s no replacing a once-in-a-generation talent like Raul Malo\, but there is a way to honor the music he left behind. That’s why The Mavericks are returning to the road\, performing classics like “Come Unto Me\,” “Back In Your Arms Again\,” and “As Long As There’s Loving Tonight” for the fans who helped make those songs legendary. Presented as “The Mavericks & Friends\,” these all-star shows will feature a decade-spanning version of the band\, along with guest singers like Emily West and James Otto. \n“It’s not just a continuation of The Mavericks; it’s a moving musical art piece\, from one show to the next\,” Perez explains. “James and Emily can sing these songs with passion\, spirit\, and energy\, because they love this music as much as we do. We might have different guests join us throughout the tour. People who love these songs just as much as we do. Maybe we’ll have a soul singer one night. Maybe we’ll get somebody from the rockabilly scene. Each show in each city will be different\, and that’s part of the adventure.” \nThat adventure has brought different eras of the band together. After a 10 year absence\, bass player Robert Reynolds is back in the lineup — a move that not only restores the group’s original rhythm section\, but helps bridge the gap between past and present\, too. “In this incarnation of The Mavericks\, we can celebrate across a wide arc of the band’s music\,” Reynolds says. “We can honor Raul by looking at all the songs he wrote\, including the early ones. It all becomes relevant again — and for the fans\, this is a chance to see a full retrospective that cuts across the entire catalog.” \n“Raul would always write our setlist\, and it would be different every night\,” remembers Jerry Dale McFadden\, the band’s keyboardist since 1994. “We have a lot of material to choose from. We released 8 records during the past 13 years alone\, and that means our shows can all be a little different. They always have been.” \nThe world looks different than it did in 1989\, when The Mavericks launched their career in the punk bars and rock clubs of Miami. Decades have passed and trends have shifted\, but The Mavericks have endured. Now\, they’ve found a new path forward as The Mavericks & Friends\, honoring their beloved Raul Malo while building upon the legacy he helped create.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Josh Ritter
DESCRIPTION:Josh Ritter is a renowned singer\, songwriter\, musician\, artist and best-selling author. One of today’s most thoughtful and prolific voices\, he has released eleven studio albums including 2019’s widely acclaimed ‘Fever Breaks’ of which NPR Music praised\, “He remains a hydrant of ideas while embodying an endless capacity for empathy and indignation\, often within a single song.” \nHis twelfth studio album ‘I Believe in You\, My Honeydew’ is out now. Two-plus decades into his celebrated career\, Ritter has written music that has transcended generations including luminaries such as Bob Dylan\, Joan Baez\, and Bob Weir covering his songs. \nThe Book of Gold Thrown Open tour is meant to encompass the whole of Ritter’s career\, versus focusing on any one studio album. \nIn addition to his work as a musician\, Ritter is also a national best-selling author\, having released two novels to date: 2021’s The Great Glorious Goddamn of It All and 2011’s Bright’s Passage. Released to critical attention\, Stephen King wrote in The New York Times Book Review that Bright’s Passage “shines with a compressed lyricism that recalls Ray Bradbury in his prime…This is the work of a gifted novelist.” \n“Josh Ritter remains at the top of his game two decades into a highlight-strewn career. He’d be forgiven for loosening his grip\, but his hand has never felt surer.”\n– NPR Music \n“Harking back to Bob Dylan\, Bruce Springsteen and maybe a little Mark Knopfler\, Mr. Ritter has always been a slinger of serious ideas and high-flown imagery.”\n– The New York Times \n“Mysterious\, melancholy\, melodic…and those are only the M’s.”\n– Stephen King in Entertainment Weekly

SUMMARY:The New Pornographers - The Former Site Of Tour
DESCRIPTION:Over the past 20+ years\, The New Pornographers have proven themselves one of the most excellent bands in indie rock. They have released nine studio albums\, including their classic debut Mass Romantic and their latest 2023’s Continue as a Guest. The band’s new album The Former Site Of will be out via Merge Records on 3/27/26 and new single “Votive” is out now. \nThey’ve constantly offered new sonic surprises with every album\, and have established themselves alongside modern luminaries like Yo La Tengo and Superchunk when it comes to their ability to evolve while still retaining what made them so special in the first place. Of the 2023 record\, New York Magazine lauded\, “The New Pornographers are a massive unit bursting with unique and intersecting talents…the band’s ninth album serves another helping of their signature dish.” \nCritical acclaim for The New Pornographers: \n“Over the course of their 20-plus-year career\, the New Pornographers have often specialized in catchy ambiguity. If leader Carl Newman was just a machine cranking out power-pop tunes\, it would get boring. But there’s also a lot of mixed emotions going on under the surface of their studiously nuanced pop-rock formalism—like if Cheap Trick was as quick-witted as Steely Dan\, or the Romantics were as thoughtful as R.E.M.”\n– Rolling Stone \n“Pure\, blissfully irresistible power pop”\n– NPR Music \n“[The New Pornographers] make catchy\, sophisticated alternate-universe hits.”\n– Stereogum

SUMMARY:Melissa Etheridge: RISE
DESCRIPTION:Melissa Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album\, which led to an appearance on the 1989 Grammy Awards show. For several years\, her popularity grew around such memorable originals as “Bring Me Some Water\,” “No Souvenirs” and “Ain’t It Heavy\,” for which she won a Grammy in 1992. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album\, Yes I Am (1993). The collection featured the massive hits\, “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window\,” a searing song of longing that brought Etheridge her second Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Performance. In 1995\, Etheridge issued her highest charting album\, Your Little Secret\, which was distinguished by the hit single\, “I Want to Come Over.” Her astounding success that year led to Etheridge receiving the Songwriter of the Year honor at the ASCAP Pop Awards in 1996. \nKnown for her confessional lyrics and raspy\, smoky vocals\, Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singers for more than two decades. In February 2007\, Melissa Etheridge celebrated a career milestone with a victory in the “Best Song” category at the Academy Awards for “I Need to Wake Up\,” written for the Al Gore documentary on global warming\, An Inconvenient Truth. As a performer and songwriter\, Etheridge has shown herself to be an artist who has never allowed “inconvenient truths” to keep her down. Earlier in her recording career\, Etheridge acknowledged her sexual orientation when it was considered less than prudent to do so. In October 2004\, Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer\, a health battle that\, with her typical tenacity\, she won. Despite losing her hair from chemotherapy\, Etheridge appeared on the 2005 Grammy telecast to sing “Piece of My Heart” in tribute to Janis Joplin. By doing so she gave hope to many women afflicted with the disease.

SUMMARY:Watchhouse - The Ritual Tour
DESCRIPTION:Watchhouse\, the North Carolina based duo of Andrew Marlin & Emily Frantz\, have announced a new studio album called Rituals\, due out May 30\, 2025 via Tiptoe Tiger Music / Thirty Tigers. The collection marks the pair’s first release of all new\, original songs since their 2021 self-titled album\, which earned praise from Rolling Stone (“pristine acoustic picking collides with hazy\, dream-like psychedelia”) Mojo\, NPR Music\, American Songwriter and more. \nStarting over a decade ago playing coffee shops and local restaurants around North Carolina\, Watchhouse is a grassroots success story that’s been driven by Marlin’s poignant songwriting. With sold-out shows at legendary venues like Red Rocks and the Ryman Auditorium\, and hundreds of millions of streams\, they’ve earned a reputation for creating music that “redefines roots music for a younger generation” (Washington Post). The duo – now with a family of their own – are two singers and musicians with profound chemistry\, performing earnest yet masterfully crafted songs that encompass the unknowable mysteries\, existential heartbreak\, and communal joys of modern life. The forthcoming album is no exception.
