SUMMARY:Cherish the Ladies - A Celtic Christmas
DESCRIPTION:An annual sold-out tradition at Tarrytown Music Hall\, Cherish the Ladies returns to to celebrate the holiday season! The Grammy Award nominated Irish-American supergroup formed in 1985 to celebrate the rise of extraordinary women in what had been a male-dominated Celtic music scene. Celebrating their 35th anniversary\, Cherish The Ladies has shared timeless Irish traditions and good cheer with audiences worldwide. \nThey’ve brought their signature blend of virtuosic instrumental talents\, beautiful vocals\, and stunning step dancing to the White House\, the Olympics\, and to PBS with their television special\, An Irish Homecoming\, which recently received an Emmy Award. The Washington Post praises the “astonishing array of virtuosity” that Cherish The Ladies bring to the stage on a regular basis. Their new album\, Heart of the Home\, embraces the gift of music passed down from generations. “It was the greatest gift they could give us\,” says bandleader Joanie Madden. “We’re carrying on the music of our fathers.” As their reputation and admiration from both fans and critics alike continues to grow\, Cherish The Ladies blazes forward into another decade of music making.

SUMMARY:The Glenn Miller Orchestra: Home for the Holidays
DESCRIPTION:The first Glenn Miller Orchestra did not make it at all. It was a total and absolute economic failure. But Glenn knew what he wanted\, held to that dedication and relentlessly worked to succeed. He launched his second band – the one that lives on today – in March of 1938. The Glenn Miller Orchestra has been a “hit” ever since. \nThe legendary Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all dance bandleaders back in the Swing Era of the 1930’s and 40’s. A matchless string of hit records\, the constant impact of radio broadcasts and the drawing power at theatres\, hotels and dance pavilion\, built and sustained the momentum of popularity. \n\n\n\n\nToday\, the 18 member ensemble continues to play many of the original Miller arrangements both from the civilian band and the AAFB libraries. Additionally\, it also plays some more modern selections arranged and performed in the Miller style and sound.

SUMMARY:Jazz is Dead - 25th Anniversary Celebrating the Grateful Dead
DESCRIPTION:Jazz is Dead – The acclaimed All-Star instrumental ensemble\, famous for interpretations of classic Grateful Dead songs with jazz influences\, returns in 2023 to celebrate its 25th Anniversary. Co-founder Alphonso Johnson will be joined by Steve Kimock\, Pete Lavezzoli & Bobby Lee Rodgers\, performing Grateful Dead’s ‘Wake of The Flood’ marking it’s 50th Anniversary\, in addition to other beloved selections. Jazz Is Dead XXV ‘reunites’ two greats! Steve Kimock & Alphonso Johnson\, who together in heavyweight post-Garcia Grateful Dead offshoot The Other Ones together with Bob Weir\, commanded the instrumental prowess of that band. \nFormed in 1998 by bassist Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report\, Santana\, Bobby & The Midnites\, The Other Ones)\, drummer Billy Cobham (Miles Davis\, Mahavishnu Orchestra\, Bobby & The Midnites)\, keyboardist T Lavitz (Dixie Dregs) & guitarist Jimmy Herring (Aquarium Rescue Unit\, Widespread Panic)\, with drummers Rod Morgenstern (Dixie Dregs) & Jeff Sipe (Leftover Salmon) replacing Cobham in 1999\, and guitarist Jeff Pevar (CSN\, David Crosby CPR\, Phil Lesh & Friends) replacing Herring in 2000\, recorded 3 acclaimed albums\, the second of which ‘Laughing Water’ in 1999 was in fact an instrumental ‘Wake of The Flood’ reinterpretation – so there is precedent. That album also featured Derek Trucks\, Donna Jean Godchaux & Vassar Clements. \nJAZZ IS DEAD XXV is \nAlphonso Johnson (bass & Chapman stick) \nSteve Kimock (guitar) \nPete Lavezzoli (drums) \nBobby Lee Rodgers (guitar)

SUMMARY:Houston Person Quartet
DESCRIPTION:The Houston Person Quartet featuring Larry Fuller on piano\, Saudi Zain on bass and Vince Ector on drums! \nNothing\, it seems\, stops Houston Person\, the reigning King of the Boss Tenor who is now in his sixth decade of performing. His new record (he’s released over 85 of them)\, Live In Paris\, just received four stars from The Guardian\, which lauded its “easy brilliance.” \nHis tone has gotten bigger even as his delivery has mellowed. A great friend of The Jazz Forum — he’s played in the Jazz Forum All-Stars – Houston is a master’s master.

SUMMARY:Neal Spitzer & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Neal Andrew Spitzer is a full time musician\, composer\, educator and sound engineer. Music has always been a big part of Neal Spitzer’s life as his mother\, the accomplished concert pianist Rosalie Spitzer\, made music a big part of the house in which he grew up. Neal Spitzer’s credits as a musician continue to grow as he strives to play the best and with the best. \nIt was during his years at The New School that he met his mentor Arnie Lawrence\, who he came to consider a second father\, and the person who introduced him to the world of jazz. We are so excited to see Neal Spitzer come back to the Jazz Forum for a big show with plenty of original music and a few not so standard tunes to reel you in. Don’t miss out!

SUMMARY:Christian Sands Trio
DESCRIPTION:A Jazz Forum favorite\, Grammy-nominated piano master Christian Sands has earned raves for two decades! \nAt only 34\, sophisticated musician/composer Christian Sands is among the leading jazz pianists of his generation. A former child prodigy (beginning lessons at four\, gigging at seven)\, mentored by Dr. Billy Taylor and Dave Brubeck\, he’s more than lived up to his early promise. \nHe’s played on over 30 recordings\, including nine as a leader\, garnered a pair of Grammy nominations and rave performance reviews. The London Jazz News calls him “an extraordinarily complete musician.” \n\nJazz Forum\, Westchester County’s only dedicated jazz club\, is tucked away on a side street in downtown Tarrytown. Drawing musicians from around the world\, the club strives to make music affordable and accessible. Headline jazz artists perform on Friday and Saturday nights with two sets per night at 7 and 9:30 pm. Two Sunday afternoon sets at 4 pm and 6 pm often feature Brazilian and Latin jazz. Check the club’s website for each weekend’s performer list and to purchase tickets. Many shows sell out in advance\, get yours early. \nThe Jazz Forum offers a full menu including entrées\, dinner plates\, cured meats and cheese\, tapenades and house-made desserts. It has a full bar and features fine Italian wines\, local draft beers and specialty cocktails. The food and drink menu is available for all Friday\, Saturday and Sunday shows. \nJazz Forum also produces a popular series of outdoor summer concerts at five Hudson River locations: Lyndhurst mansion\, Tarrytown’s Pierson Park\, Sleepy Hollow’s Horan’s Landing Park\, Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park\, and Henry Gourdine Park in Ossining.
