SUMMARY:Sarah Jarosz: Polaroid Lovers Tour
DESCRIPTION:Sarah Jarosz\, four time Grammy Award winning artist\, tours with her band in support of her latest album\, Polaroid Lovers. It’s an album-long meditation on those strangely ephemeral moments that indelibly shape our lives. “What I love about a Polaroid is that it’s capturing something so fleeting\, but at the same time it makes that moment last forever\,” says the Texas-born singer/songwriter/multi- instrumentalist. “It made sense as a title for a record where all the songs are snapshots of different love stories\, and there’s a feeling of time being expansive despite that impermanence.” Thanks to the rarefied alchemy that infuses all of Jarosz’s output — her finely wrought lyricism\, ravishing vocal work\, virtuosic yet unfettered musicality — Polaroid Lovers performs the much-needed magic of leading us toward a heightened sense of presence\, all while casting a lovely spell with her timelessly powerful songs. \nThe follow-up to 2020’s studio album World on the Ground (winner of the Grammy Award for Best Americana Album) and 2021’s song cycle Blue Heron Suite\, Polaroid Lovers embodies a bold new vitality that has much to do with a deliberate shift in Jarosz’s writing process and sonic approach. “Historically I’ve been somewhat closed off to co-writing\, but in the past couple of years I’ve felt curious to get out of my comfort zone\,” says the newly Nashville-based artist\, who released her debut album at just 18-years-old. “For a long time it was important to me to write for myself\, so that I wouldn’t get lost in those rooms full of amazing writers. But now that I’m more confident in my musical identity\, I know I can collaborate but still stay true to my own voice.” In one of her first co-writing sessions for Polaroid Lovers\, Jarosz joined forces with Daniel Tashian (a songwriter/musician/producer known for his multi-award-winning work on Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour) and immediately felt an undeniable creative connection. “Daniel and I were both so excited by the idea of creating a new sound together\, and he pushed me in ways I felt completely ready for and open to\,” she says. “It felt really good to allow myself that freedom\, and to take that leap into something new.”

SUMMARY:Neko Case
DESCRIPTION:Touring in support of her most recent album Wild Creatures\, Neko Case steps out\, cutting the sky and singing the stars\, spinning fury and mercy as she goes. She loves the world and wears her heart on her sleeve\, but she might eat it before you get to thinking it belongs to you. \nWild Creatures pulls together some high points of feral joy from twenty-one years of solo work by Neko Case. The Virginian marked Neko’s debut as a solo artist in 1997. She delved into darkness in 2000 with Furnace Room Lullaby\, scrawled Blacklisted in 2004 and recorded The Tigers Have Spoken live the same year. In 2006\, she dreamed Fox Confessor Brings the Flood\, and in 2009 unleashed Middle Cyclone. She plumbed her own life in 2013 for The Worse Things Get\, the Harder I Fight\, the Harder I Fight\, the More I Love You\, and raised hell in 2018 with Hell-On. Now in her third decade of recording under her own name\, she’s just getting started. \nIs there another songwriter so fearless and inventive? Bending decades of pop music into new shapes\, she wields her voice like a kiss and her metaphors like a baseball bat. She has cast the fishing net of her career wide—from Seattle and Vancouver to Chicago and Stockholm\, setting up her home base on a farm in New England.

SUMMARY:The Robert Cray Band - Groovin’ for 50 Years!
DESCRIPTION:Blues icon. Soul man. Rock and roller. Robert Cray is all these things – and more. The Georgia- born\, Washington-raised musician first picked up a guitar after seeing The Beatles on TV then\, having witnessed Jimi Hendrix perform in Seattle\, determined that his destiny would also follow a similar path. And so he has: across the past half century Robert Cray’s developed into one of American music’s most singular artists. \nFrom forming a teenage garage band\, through to striding the stage alongside several of the world’s greatest guitarists\, Robert Cray’s story is one of struggle and commitment. Struggle and commitment that led to Cray enjoying phenomenal success – selling millions of albums and countless concert tickets\, winning five Grammy Awards\, being inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame\, recipient of the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award\, designing two signature model Fender guitars – yet for Robert what’s always mattered most is the music. Every note he plays counts\, every song he sings is delivered as if it is his last: integrity and intensity are what has guided Cray’s musical career. He has never cheapened his output or delivered a substandard performance. Indeed\, his commitment to making music of the highest standard has won Cray both a loyal audience and the respect of many of popular music’s most legendary figures.

SUMMARY:Old Crow Medicine Show
DESCRIPTION:“If this is any indication of what Old Crow Medicine Show still has in store so many recordings in its career\, we should count ourselves lucky.” – NPR Music \nOld Crow Medicine Show got their start busking on street corners in 1998\, from New York state and up through Canada\, winning audiences along the way with their boundless energy and spirit. They eventually found themselves in Boone\, North Carolina where they caught the attention of folk icon Doc Watson while playing in front of a pharmacy. He invited the band to play at his festival\, MerleFest\, and the rest is history. It’s been over twenty years since these humble beginnings. The band has gone on to receive the honor of being inducted as members of the Grand Ole Opry and have won two Grammy Awards: “Best Folk Album” for Remedy (2014) and “Best Long Form Music Video” for Big Easy Express (2013). Additionally\, their classic single\, “Wagon Wheel”\, received the RIAA’s Double-Platinum certification in 2019 for selling over 2\,000\,000 copies while the band’s debut album O.C.M.S. has been certified Gold (500\,000 copies). The band’s latest release is ‘Jubilee’ (Aug 2023) released via ATO Records.

SUMMARY:Boney James: Slow Burn Tour
DESCRIPTION:For saxophonist and composer Boney James\, these words perfectly describe the music he has crafted for his new Concord Records album\, Slow Burn\, releasing on October 18\, 2024. \n“When I mentioned that phrase to people as a possible title\, they said\, ‘That also refers to your whole career in a way.’ James says with a laugh. “This is my 19th record and I feel like I’m just hitting my stride.”\nSlow Burn is a new high point in a remarkable career that now spans more than three decades and includes a long list of accolades; four GRAMMY nominations\, three NAACP Image Award nominations\, a Soul Train Award for Best Jazz Album and four RIAA Gold Record certifications. In 2009\, Billboard named James one of the Top 3 Contemporary Jazz Artists of the decade. In 2024 Boney became the first ever artist to score 20 number one singles on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart. \nSlow Burn follows two of the most successful albums of James’ career\, 2020’s Solid and 2022’s Detour which debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Pop Albums Chart. \nJames is\, of course\, thrilled that his music continues to reach new audiences more than thirty years after he released his debut album\, Trust\, in 1992. “It’s always been my goal to be one of those guys that would just keep doing it at a high level\,” he says\, “and to have that connection with the audience.” \nThat’s what it’s always been about for Boney James. Growing up in New Rochelle\, New York\, James played clarinet in his school band\, but two years later\, he says\, “The teacher needed a sax player. As soon as I switched\, playing it became my favorite thing to do.” \nBy the time he entered his teens\, James was already gigging with bands\, and he turned pro at 19. After years of paying his dues with artists like The Isley Brothers\, Teena Marie and many more\, Boney cut his first album on an independent label\, which led immediately to a major label deal and a string of increasingly successful recordings and nonstop touring. \nNow\, James says\, “I wake up each day and try to play a little better. To quote the cellist Pablo Casals ‘I think I’m making progress.’ I am really proud of my playing on this new record. And I absolutely love the songs and the sound I achieved.” \nSome might say it has a Slow Burn: a deliberate intensity.

SUMMARY:An Acoustic Evening with Matisyahu
DESCRIPTION:When Matisyahu first started touring to packed clubs more than eleven years ago\, it was prior to the release of Live at Stubbs\, the now Gold record\, and prior to that record’s single “King without a Crown” reaching #1 on the alternative rock radio charts. His performances were a raw expression of his spirituality at that time and were supported by musicians who played a foundation of roots reggae augmented by the energy of a rock trio. Fans latched on quickly for a variety of reasons\, but in August of 2005\, just months after the release of Live at Stubbs\, Matisyahu found himself on stage at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival with the de facto leader of improvisational rock-n-roll; Phish’s front man Trey Anastasio. Many early fans of Matisyahu remember that moment clearly not because of the songs he played in front of the 80\,000 person crowd\, but because of his seemingly unfettered confidence (or perhaps naiveté) in helping lead Trey and his band through an improvisational display of beat boxing and lyrical gymnastics during the two songs performed. It may have been unrefined\, but Matisyahu’s passion for full band improvisation was laid bare. \nFans within the improvisational-jam scene began flocking to Matisyahu’s shows shortly thereafter. “King without a Crown” climbed the charts and Matisyahu’s follow up record Youth was nominated for a Grammy\, but the blessings and curses of mainstream success each took root. While Matisyahu’s bands have always been comprised of serious multidimensional players who have artfully molded the foundations of roots reggae into many genres\, that early; if only a brief display of complete surrender to the music\, seemed in some way to take a back seat. Through his lyrics however\, Matisyahu developed a more personal\, artistic\, and sophisticated way to express the yearning for deep spiritual meaning\, and as his own beliefs opened up to find more variety and depth\, the desire for his performances to match the unpredictable flow of life developed as well.

SUMMARY:Railroad Earth
DESCRIPTION:For over two decades\, Railroad Earth has captivated audiences with gleefully unpredictable live shows and eloquent and elevated studio output. The group introduced its signature sound on 2001’s The Black Bear Sessions. \nBetween selling out hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison\, CO\, they’ve launched the longstanding annual Hangtown Music Festival in Placerville\, CA and Hillberry: The Harvest Moon Festival in Ozark\, AR—both running for a decade-plus. \nSought after by legends\, the John Denver Estate tapped them to put lyrics penned by the late John Denver to music on the 2019 vinyl EP\, Railroad Earth: The John Denver Letters. \nBeyond tallying tens of millions of streams\, the collective have earned widespread critical acclaim from David Fricke of Rolling Stone\, American Songwriter\, Glide Magazine\, and NPR who assured\, “Well-versed in rambling around\, as you might expect from a band named after a Jack Kerouac poem\, the New Jersey-built jam-grass engine Railroad Earth has let no moss grow under its rustic wheels.”
