SUMMARY:Al Di Meola
DESCRIPTION:Al Di Meola\, a bonafide living Guitar Legend inducted into the Gallery of Greats is among the top guitarists of our time. His ongoing fascination with complex rhythmic syncopation combined with provocative lyrical melodies and sophisticated harmony has been at the heart of his music throughout a celebrated career that has spanned four decades and earned him critical accolades\, four gold albums\, two platinum albums\, more than six million in record sales worldwide\, five German gold albums\, and various awards including an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Berklee College of Music\, the Honorary Miles Davis Award presented by the Montreal Jazz Festival\, a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Sir George Martin in 2008\, Hungarian Foundation for Performing Arts Lyra Award\, and numerous Grammy nominations and awards. Al is the recipient of the most prestigious guitar awards ever given\, a total of 12 awards from Guitar Player Magazine polls and as a result\, was inducted into their Gallery of Greats. \nNot only a guitar hero\, but a prolific composer\, he has amassed over 30 albums as a leader while collaborating on a dozen or so others with the likes of the fusion supergroup Return to Forever(with Chick Corea\, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White)\, the celebrated acoustic Guitar Trio featuring fellow virtuosos John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia\, and the Rite of Strings trio with bassist Clarke and violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. And while his dazzling technique on both acoustic and electric guitars has afforded him regal status among the hordes of fretboard fanatics who regularly flock to his concerts\, the depth of Di Meola’s writing along with the soulfulness and the inherent lyricism of his guitaristic expression have won him legions of fans worldwide beyond the guitar aficionado set.

SUMMARY:Rufus Wainwright - Follow the Rules
DESCRIPTION:Touring Solo in support of his new album “Unfollow the Rules”. For the first time in 7 years\, Rufus Wainwright released a brand new studio album during the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 titled “Unfollow the Rules.” Produced by Mitchell Froom\, this album is the bookend to his debut album that garnered him Best New Artist by American Rolling Stone Magazine in 1998 and can be seen as a summary and climax of all his previous albums\, a work of true maturity. It was nominated for a Grammy and Juno and has been met with great critical acclaim. \n“What I would like this album to symbolize is a coming together of all the aspects of my life which have made me a seasoned artist\,” says Wainwright. “My aim is to emulate the greats of yore whose second acts produced their finest work – Leonard Cohen when he made THE FUTURE\, when Sinatra became Sinatra in his 40s\, when Paul Simon put out GRACELAND. Pop music isn’t always about your waistline. Many songwriters improve with age. I’m flying the flag for staying alive!” \nRufus has been embarking on a worldwide tour with a spectacular three-piece band since September 2021. Fans old and new in the US and the UK so far have experienced the singer-songwriter in the absolute prime of his vocal abilities. The London Times wrote after his sold out Palladium show “When he unleashes that velvety truffle of a voice\, …you want it to go on and on.” and The Arts Desk says that “Wainwright certainly knows how to pace a concert\, and the performance he gives borders on the operatic\, pushing his voice to highs and lows that seem sometimes to defy the odds.” He now takes his band to the Pacific Northwest and across Canada. Audiences can expect a glorious mixture of deep emotion\, drama\, wit\, solace\, uplift\, entertainment and absolute musical bliss\, a journey that not many artists can take you along on.

SUMMARY:The Wood Brothers
DESCRIPTION:The Wood Brothers—bassist/vocalist Chris Wood\, guitarist/vocalist Oliver Wood\, and drummer/keyboardist Jano Rix—recently released Kingdom In My Mind\, their seventh studio release and most spontaneous (and experimental) collection yet. \n“My brother came to this band from the blues and gospel world\, and my history was all over the map with jazz and R&B\,” says Chris Wood\, who first rose to fame with the pioneering trio Medeski Martin & Wood. “The idea for this group has always been to marry our backgrounds\, to imagine what might happen if Robert Johnson and Charles Mingus had started a band.” \nKingdom is a worthy successor to 2018’s One Drop Of Truth\, which hit #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and garnered the band their first Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album.

SUMMARY:The Jayhawks
DESCRIPTION:The Jayhawks kick off the October lineup at Tarrytown Music Hall. \nThe Jayhawks and their rootsy sound were definitely swimming against the tide when they emerged from a crowded Minnesota music scene in 1985. Over the course of almost 4 decades\, 11 albums\, countless memorable live shows and enough personal drama to fill a couple of Behind the Music episodes\, this beloved band soared to heights few ever achieve while winning the hearts and minds of numerous critics\, fans and peers in the process. \n\nAfter releasing two Indie albums in the 80s The Jayhawks signed with American Recordings in 1991 and over the next decade released 5 challenging\, at times groundbreaking\, albums\, toured the world to widespread acclaim and even survived the departure of founding member Mark Olson in 1995. After a hiatus in the mid 2000s\, the “classic” 1994 lineup reunited for another new studio album in 2011 and 2 years of solid touring\, reacquainting audiences old and new with the band’s timeless musical vision. 2014 saw a late 90s version of the band led by Gary Louris hitting the road to support the reissues of the 3 Jayhawks albums released from 1997-2003. This lineup released the band’s 9th studio album in 2016\, recorded in Portland\, OR with producers Peter Buck and Tucker Martine. The band’s next studio album\, Back Roads And Abandoned Motels\, was released in the summer of 2018\, featuring Jayhawks versions of songs Gary Louris had previously written with other artists plus 2 new compositions. Recording for a new Jayhawks album was completed in Minnesota in late 2019 and in July 2020 the band released their 11th studio album\, XOXO.

SUMMARY:Violent Femmes
DESCRIPTION:Violent Femmes formed in 1981 as an acoustic punk band playing on the streets of Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. Their main influences at that time were Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps and The Velvet Underground. Their goal was to rock harder than any other acoustic act on the planet. \nAfter being rejected for an audition by a local nightclub\, the Femmes set up outside a Pretenders gig and began to play. Pretenders’ lead singer Chrissie Hynde asked them to open that night’s show\, which gave the young band a publicity boost and caught the attention of Richard Hell\, who invited the Femmes to open for him in NYC. A rave review in the New York Times eventually led to a record deal\, which in turn spawned worldwide touring. \nViolent Femmes eponymous debut album became the first and only album in Billboard history to enter the charts with a platinum certification- eight years after its release. Over the ensuing three decades\, the Femmes became a mainstay of festivals\, clubs\, and theaters in more than 20 countries worldwide. \nMTV’s “Unplugged” show was inspired by the Femmes\, although they never actually appeared on it. Their raw sound and honest lyrical perspective has been cited as an influence by artists as diverse as Pink\, Keith Urban\, The Smiths\, The Pixies\, John Cusack\, Mark Morris\, and Wim Wenders. \nMore than 30 years into their careers\, Violent Femmes spent 2019 touring extensively and released Hotel Last Resort.  After the COVID shutdown they successfully completed a full US tour with Flogging Molly in 2021. US touring continues through 2022. \n2023 will mark the 40th anniversary of the bands debut album.  The songs continue to impact younger generations to this day.

From 1972 to 1980\, Bob Marley & The Wailers recorded\, toured\, and performed before countless millions worldwide. The incomparable Wailers are coming to Babylon by Bus\, to rock the stage\, to bring the magic and message of Roots Rasta Reggae. It’s a Rastaman Vibration: a slice of music history you must not miss. Legend.
