SUMMARY:A Year With Frog and Toad
DESCRIPTION:Based on Arnold Lobel’s beloved children’s books and featuring a jazzy\, upbeat score by Robert and Willie Reale that bubbles with melody and wit\, the show is an inventive\, exuberant\, and enchanting experience for the whole family. This whimsical musical follows two great friends — the cheerful\, popular Frog and the curmudgeonly Toad — through four\, fun-filled seasons\, meeting new friends like Man Bird and Lady Bird; Father\, Mother and Young Frog; Turtle; Squirrel and many more along the way. Waking from hibernation in the Spring\, Frog and Toad plant gardens\, swim\, rake leaves\, go sledding\, and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in their differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville\, part make believe\, all charm\, A Year With Frog And Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures\, weathering all seasons. \nThe beloved pair is entering a new era with Frog and Toad\, an animated series of eight episodes\, each containing two stories\, wich debuted April 28\, 2023 on Apple TV+. Of the 16 short stories on screen\, six are new additions\, and the rest were adapted from the books. The series is executive produced by Lobel’s children\, Adrianne and Adam Lobel\, who hope the show will reintroduce new audiences to their father’s work.

SUMMARY:A (Mostly) Acoustic Evening: Barber and Magner of The Disco Biscuits
DESCRIPTION:Philadelphia’s Disco Biscuits established a name for themselves in the live music space by cultivating their own “trance-fusion” genre\, which is often characterized by futuristic sounds\, fast flying notes\, and club-thumping beats. Images of their legendary concerts reveal packed audiences dancing under a sea of sound and lasers\, while the band navigates the unknown\, taking fans with them on long\, improvisational journeys. But strip that away and you’ll find that their foundation is built on the fundamentals — great songs with evocative lyrics and addictive hooks. \nFor the first time ever\, Disco Biscuits’ Jon Gutwillig (guitar) and Aron Magner (keyboards) plan to bring it back down to those building blocks\, showcasing these lived-in songs in a brand new setting as an acoustic duo. \n“It’s fascinating to interpret our catalogue in this way and to still find new and unique qualities to them” says Gutwillig after his first acoustic rehearsal with Magner\, where they just had a guitar\, a piano\, and a set of songs that Disco Biscuits audiences know by heart. But even without all that electricity\, perhaps the most enticing expectation for this show is that fans can still expect to embark on the improvisational-heavy adventures that the Disco Biscuits are celebrated for.

SUMMARY:Josh Ritter: Special Trio Show w/ Mark Erelli & Zachariah Hickman
DESCRIPTION:This is a special\, intimate show at Tarrytown Music Hall with a stripped down trio version of Josh Ritter and his band\, featuring Mark Erelli and Zachariah Hickman. \nRitter is a renowned singer\, songwriter\, musician\, artist and best-selling author. One of today’s most thoughtful and prolific voices\, he has released eleven studio albums including 2019’s widely acclaimed\, Fever Breaks\, of which NPR Music praised\, “He remains a hydrant of ideas while embodying an endless capacity for empathy and indignation\, often within a single song.” \n\nIn addition to his work as a musician\, Ritter is also a national best-selling author\, having released two novels to date: 2021’s The Great Glorious Goddamn of It All and 2011’s Bright’s Passage. Released to critical attention\, Stephen King wrote in The New York Times Book Review that Bright’s Passage “shines with a compressed lyricism that recalls Ray Bradbury in his prime…This is the work of a gifted novelist.” \n“Josh Ritter remains at the top of his game two decades into a highlight-strewn career. He’d be forgiven for loosening his grip\, but his hand has never felt surer.”\n– NPR Music \n“Harking back to Bob Dylan\, Bruce Springsteen and maybe a little Mark Knopfler\, Mr. Ritter has always been a slinger of serious ideas and high-flown imagery.”\n– The New York Times \n“Mysterious\, melancholy\, melodic…and those are only the M’s.”\n– Stephen King in Entertainment Weekly

She also performed in several New York-area recitals. Moore and Barfoed also won first prize in the Copenhagen Lied-Duo Competition and second prize at the Naumberg Foundation International Vocal Competition.

Since their formation in 2004\, the group has stunned audiences all over the world with the musicianship\, passion and gender-bending audacity they bring to the music of Led Zeppelin. Unlike  the typical “tribute band” Lez Zeppelin does not seek to imitate. Rather\, they are a she-incarnation of the original. With swagger\, intensity and virtuosity\, these four women cover the entire canon\, performing hits\, deep tracks\, epic compositions and acoustic numbers with utmost authenticity\, as if they’d written the music themselves. Jimmy Page described it best after attending a Lez Zeppelin show in London: “They played the Led Zeppelin music with an extraordinary sensuality and an energy and passion that highlighted their superb musicianship.”

SUMMARY:Béla Fleck\, Antonio Sánchez\, Edmar Castañeda Trio
DESCRIPTION:Banjo. Drums. Harp. Huh? \nTo be sure\, the new all-star trio of Béla Fleck\, harpist Edmar Castañeda and drummer Antonio Sánchez features instrumentation that might safely be called uncommon. Unless\, of course\, you’re already familiar with 18-time Grammy-winner Fleck — the genre-blurring virtuoso who has done more to expand the possibilities of the banjo than any other player in the instrument’s history. From his bluegrass beginnings through his otherworldly Flecktones\, his duo with Chick Corea and his reimagining of Rhapsody in Blue\, Fleck’s work never fails to surprise. What doesn’t surprise is the impeccable caliber of his collaborators — and this new trio includes two of the most gifted musicians of their generation. \nThe harpist\, Casteñada\, hails from Bogotá\, Colombia\, and has led his own bands in addition to sharing projects with such masters as Hiromi\, Paquito D’Rivera and Grégoire Maret. 5-time Grammy-winner Sánchez grew up in Mexico City and built a reputation as one of the great jazz drummers through his work with guitarist Pat Metheny. He’s also been a visionary bandleader\, helming progressive groups like Bad Hombre\, and collaborated with Chick Corea\, Gary Burton\, Charlie Haden\, Michael Brecker and other giants. His Golden Globe-nominated drum-set score for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 2014 film Birdman earned him renown far outside the jazz world. \nPlaying original repertoire\, much of it collaboratively written\, this trio embarks nightly on fearless explorations that audiences will find irresistible — rich with strong melodies\, gorgeous harmony and grooves that twist and turn while feeling fantastic.

SUMMARY:Marc Roberge of O.A.R.
DESCRIPTION:As frontman for multi-platinum-selling alt-rock band O.A.R.\, Marc Roberge has performed for sold-out crowds at many of the world’s most iconic venues and helped to build a singularly devoted fanbase that spans the entire globe. \nWith the band now on their tenth studio album (2022’s The Arcade)\, the New York City-based singer/songwriter/guitarist has also established a dynamic career as a solo artist over the past decade. In a departure from the unbridled energy of O.A.R.’s live show\, Roberge’s solo tours find him taking the stage at more intimate theaters and delivering stripped-back renditions of O.A.R. fan favorites\, along with a carefully curated selection of covers. Also rooted in his off-the-cuff and warmly candid conversations with the audience\, the result is a prime showcase for Roberge’s deeply personal yet immediately resonant storytelling—an element he’s continually brought to O.A.R.’s music since the Maryland-bred band’s formation in 1996. Naming classic country troubadours among the main inspirations behind his solo shows\, Roberge is now at work on a debut solo album that spotlights the more lyrically driven and folk-leaning side of his limitless musicality with a chance of special guests.
