SUMMARY:Charles Rhyner Jazz Quartet - Outdoor Concert
DESCRIPTION:Charles Rhyner and his stellar jazz quartet present a performance of his modern yet lyrical compositions which bring vibrancy to the spacious\, melodic and flowing tunes. \nWeather permitting this concert will take place in the courtyard behind the church at 10 West Elizabeth Street\, Tarrytown. Bring your own food and beverages. In the event of rain\, the performance will be moved inside the church\, 43 South Broadway\, Tarrytown. \n\nWashington Irving\, author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow\,” followed the Rev. Dr. William Creighton to this church from Zion Episcopal in Dobbs Ferry. Irving was a vestryman\, warden\, Sunday School teacher\, and regular parishioner at Christ Church until his death in 1859. The ivy on the church walls is from cuttings taken at Irving’s home\, Sunnyside\, and his pew is still marked in the front of the sanctuary.

SUMMARY:Oscar Feldman Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Oscar Feldman Quartet – Celebrating the music of Gato Barbieri (presented in association with Laura Barbieri)! \nKnown for his splendid tonalities and melodically outstanding charts\, the Argentinian native demonstrates his superb skills on alto\, tenor and soprano saxes\, while employing a wide range of Panamerican references\, from straight ahead to tango to candombe to samba to mambo. The source of Feldman’s ease at crossing musical genres is his eclectic musical education. \nGrowing up in Cordoba around painters who gathered in the familly gallery art business\, listening to his father’s jazz records\, he attended Conservatorio Provincial de Musica and was very soon part of the prominent music scene in his hometown\, becoming a founding member of acclaimed band Los Musicos del Centro. \n\nJazz Forum\, Westchester County’s only dedicated jazz club\, is tucked away on a side street in downtown Tarrytown. Drawing musicians from around the world\, the club strives to make music affordable and accessible. Headline jazz artists perform on Friday and Saturday nights with two sets per night at 7 and 9:30 pm. Two Sunday afternoon sets at 4 pm and 6 pm often feature Brazilian and Latin jazz.
