SUMMARY:An Evening with Josh Ritter - Solo Acoustic
DESCRIPTION:Tarrytown Music Hall is thrilled to welcome singer/songwriter Josh Ritter back to the stage. A Note from Josh about this upcoming tour: \n\n\n“Hi Everyone! \nI don’t know about you\, but for me this past year has had more than its fair share of long nights of the soul. Whether in song or prose or one of those weird creatures that lives between\, I’ve returned to stories over and over again for sustenance and counsel and forgetting. I’ve also found myself dreaming of touring again\, being on stage\, performing my songs – my stories – like I did for so long before the world turned on its head. I’ve lived in those memories when I couldn’t be on stage in any other way. \nNow I get the chance to perform again. I’m so excited I almost can’t contain it. I want my first set of shows in a year and a half to be in places that will allow me to sing some of the stranger\, quieter\, more narrative songs that I may not always get to at a rock show. I want the venues to be special and beautiful\, I want laughter and music and stories that are true even if they’re unreal. Finally\, I want to perform again\, stomp the dust off\, see what new appendages and teeth and claws have grown from this time in the wilderness\, see what joy can come from sorrow and what tears can come from joy. \nI’m so excited to see you again. \nRock On! \nJosh”

Tarrytown Music Hall presents Boat House Row: a Yacht Rock experience like no other! Bringing you the silky sounds of soft rock from the late 70s and early 80s.

SUMMARY:Houndmouth with special guest Sam Filiatreau
DESCRIPTION:In late 2011\, Matt Myers\, Zak Appleby and Shane Cody started playing music together in a historic home in New Albany\, Indiana dubbed “The Green House.” Its rooms were adorned with relics from times past\, so it was no surprise that songs such as “Penitentiary” bounced off the walls. Nostalgic sounds from their first album seemed to serve as a welcome escape for listeners from the relentless demands of the digital age. But if you asked any one of the guys\, they were ‘just having fun.’ \n\n\nHoundmouth signed with legendary indie label Rough Trade Records in 2012. From The Hills Below The City landed them on several world-famous platforms such as fellow lovable Hoosier\, David Letterman’s stage. When vocalist\, guitarist\, and songwriter Matt Myers first spoke with big-name producer Dave Cobb prior to working together on their sophomore LP Little Neon Limelight\, the two laughingly agreed to “not make another fucking boring Americana record.” A natural sounding album captured in a familiar fashion came together\, except this time with a #1 adult alternative radio single in “Sedona.” “I never once thought of us as an Americana band\,” says drummer Shane Cody. “The four of us were just a rock band\, but some of us had Southern accents\,” he laughs. Cue Golden Age\, the third album featuring some of the band’s most innovative and experimental songs yet. Coining the term “retro future”\, Houndmouth combined creative songwriting with avant-garde instrumentation like the synthesized roar of an actual black jaguar on the track “Black Jaguar”. \nThe band finds themselves recording and also touring their upcoming untitled fourth album expected to release in 2021. From their humble start\, genre-defining hits\, and experimentation\, Houndmouth has and continues to make their impactful felt with the unique take on storytelling through music.

SUMMARY:Alan Broadbent Trio feat. Harvie S & Billy Mintz
DESCRIPTION:Alan Broadbent was born in Auckland\, New Zealand and by the age of 19 received a Downbeat Magazine scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1969 he was asked to join Woody Herman’s band as his pianist and arranger\, an association that lasted for 3 years. In 1972 he settled in Los Angeles and was soon invited into the studio scene as a pianist for the great Nelson Riddle\, and also worked with David Rose and Johnny Mandel. \nBroadbent later became a member of Charlie Haden’s Quartet West\, touring the festivals of Europe\, the UK and the USA. As a soloist and with his jazz trio\, Broadbent has been nominated for Grammys twice for best instrumental performance. In 2007 he was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit\, an honor he holds in high regard. \nIt has been his lifelong goal\, through his orchestral arrangements and jazz improvisations\, to discover\, in popular music and standard songs\, deeper feelings of communication and love.

It was while with this group that he won his second Grammy\, an orchestral accompaniment written for Shirley Horn of Leonard Bernstein’s “Lonely Town”.

SUMMARY:Houston Person Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Nothing\, it seems\, stops Houston Person\, the reigning King of the Boss Tenor who is now in his sixth decade of performing. His new record (he’s released over 85 of them)\, Live In Paris\, just received four stars from The Guardian\, which lauded its “easy brilliance.” \nHis tone has gotten bigger even as his delivery has mellowed. A great friend of The Jazz Forum — he’s played in the Jazz Forum All-Stars – Houston is a master’s master.

SUMMARY:Dar Williams with Special Guest Sophie B Hawkins
DESCRIPTION:Dar Williams’ lyrics contain bouquets of optimism\, delivered on melodies alternating between beguiling lightness and understated gravity. Williams strongly believes that all of us possess our own power and ability to achieve\, and she rejects the exceptionalism that encourages us to “admire that yonder star\,” while making us feel small and insignificant; unworthy of shining on our own but hoping to catch enough distant light to inspire some tiny accomplishment. Williams has always been very interested in how to control our future and this album has to do with the fact that at some point\, you just can’t. \n\n\nLike everyone else\, Williams spent 2020 in that state of non-control. She and longtime producer Stewart Lerman tracked most of the album\, her 12th studio recording\, in November of 2019. In late February of 2020\, she cut the title tune in Woodstock with bassist Gail Ann Dorsey and Larry Campbell\, who produced the track and played guitars\, pedal steel and twangy baritone guitar. When told they had to postpone a mid-March mixing date\, Campbell said he wasn’t feeling well anyway. Turns out he’d contracted a serious case of COVID-19. That was a clear sign that at some point\, you have to meet life where it meets you …the common thread throughout that these songs\, the willingness to meet life as it arrives. \nDar Williams was always in the right place at the right time for the success she’s had over a 25+-year career. She rose out of the vibrant mid-90’s Boston scene\, inspired by the eclectic influences of alt-rockers\, Berklee jazz musicians\, slam poets\, and folk artists\, like Patty Griffith\, Melissa Ferrick\, the Throwing Muses\, Vance Gilbert\, and Jonatha Brooke. After a year of touring non-stop with her first album\, The Honesty Room\, in 1994\, she was invited by Joan Baez to tour in Europe and The United States. \n“Good and bad things happen\, and it’s not necessarily a reward or indictment. I’ve just got to meet it.” Williams observes. “Like\, I’m bringing my whole life to this moment; it will surprise me\, challenge me\, show me where I was wrong\, even make a fool out of me\, but my job is to show up and not take adversity personally. Real happiness doesn’t have to feel like Snoopy dancing with Woodstock; it can just be knowing you have the resilience to meet whatever comes to you. I will call that a good life.”

SUMMARY:Zoso – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience
DESCRIPTION:Zoso – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience formed in 1995 to perform the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing. For Zoso\, it’s much more than just being a tribute. It’s about touching a golden era in music. Zoso embodies Page\, Plant\, Bonham and Jones in their spirit\, tightly wound talent and authenticity. \n\n\nEach band member has been carefully selected to portray both the appearance and playing styles of their Led Zeppelin counterparts. In eighteen successful years of touring\, they have perfected their art. As one of the longest tenured Zeppelin tributes\, Zoso’s 2400 live shows around the world\, including a slot at Bonnaroo in 2003\, have established them as the most traveled and successful band in the market. \nZoso’s live shows are not about simply playing the right notes\, they are about aura and feeling\, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created. It’s in the way they play: Each band member’s mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spoton vocals\, guitar\, bass\, drums\, and keyboards\, their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound\, with astounding visual imagery recreates the music\, magic\, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert. The impact is so powerful that band members constantly hear from young rockers that they were the catalyst behind turning them into new\, diehard Zeppelin fans. \nTheir passion\, musical ability\, showmanship and precise attention to detail earned them critical acclaim\, name recognition and a loyal national following. The Los Angeles Times hailed the group as being “head and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes\,” and the Chicago SunTimes declared Zoso is “the closest to the original of any tribute.” \nIf you missed Led Zeppelin live in the 70’s or are looking to relive the “Hammer of the Gods” phenomenon\, you must experience what the St. Petersburg Times calls “the most exacting of the Zeppelin tribute bands in existence.”
