SUMMARY:Glass Pumpkin Patch
DESCRIPTION:The village of Sleepy Hollow welcomes back glass artist Gregory Tomb this Halloween season. Greg has partnered with the Make-A-Wish® Hudson Valley to create the 2nd annual Glass Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser of Sleepy Hollow\, October 6-9\, 2023 in Kingsland Point Park. \nThis festive event will showcase over 1\,000 whimsical\, vibrantly colored glass pumpkins handmade by Gregory Tomb\, a nationally acclaimed glass artist known for his unique\, intricate designs. These one-of-a-kind works of art will be available for purchase. Proceeds support the Make-A-Wish® Hudson Valley which has granted the wishes of more than 3\,000 children in the Hudson Valley region with critical illnesses. \nArtist Gregory Tomb has been fascinated by glass art since childhood\, when road trips with his family would often include visits to the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning\, N.Y. After studying glassblowing as an art student at Hartwick College\, Tomb explored a variety of personal and professional interests — but glass art always remained his passion. He honed his craft as a production glassblower in a factory for world-renowned glass maker Simon Pearce. \nTomb has been awarded “best in glass” and served as the featured artist at the Nassau County Museum of Art\, the Hampton Fine Art Festival\, the Stuart Art Festival and the Scottsdale Artfest. His colorful creations have also been featured in numerous museums and magazines nationwide. \nCurrently\, Tomb is the summer Artist-in-Residence for Johnsburg\, NY\, a small town in the Adirondacks. He provides glassblowing experiences for all ages each season and shares his art in the gallery along the Hudson River. For more information about the artist and his glass pumpkin patches visit https://www.gregorytglass.com \nThis is a free event although a parking fee at Kingsland Point Park will apply.

SUMMARY:Christ Church Fall Fair
DESCRIPTION:Christ Episcopal Church in Tarrytown\, where Washington Irving worshipped\, brings back its Fall Fair in 2023! Shop books\, clothing\, jewelry\, toys and more. Stop by the International Café and Bake Sale for delicious home made food. Plus there are crafts and games for children. The all-day event is from 10 am to 4 pm. \nThe festival at Tarrytown’s historic Christ Episcopal Church San Marcos is the church’s major annual fundraiser.  From a Boutique offering jewelry\, artwork\, trinkets and collectibles to the White Elephants bargain section\, to sports equipment\, and electronics\, there is something for everyone. \nChrist Church San Marcos\, founded in 1836\, evolves with the needs and interests of the local community. For many years\, the Community Food Pantry of Sleepy Hollow has been housed in the church hall. The church’s services to the community also include its Clothing Closet\, a scholarship fund for area youth to enroll in summer enrichment programs\, a series of Saturday night concerts\, and an annual Day of Defiant Hope social justice forum. \n\nWashington Irving\, author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow\,” followed the Rev. Dr. William Creighton to this church from Zion Episcopal in Dobbs Ferry. Irving was a vestryman\, warden\, Sunday School teacher\, and regular parishioner at Christ Church until his death in 1859. The ivy on the church walls is from cuttings taken at Irving’s home\, Sunnyside\, and his pew is still marked in the front of the sanctuary.
