SUMMARY:The Sailhouse Oyster Fest
DESCRIPTION:This October\, The Sailhouse puts its own waterfront spin on the season with Oyster Fest\, a series of four Sunday afternoons of fresh oysters\, seasonal cocktails\, and live music on the banks of the Hudson River. Set against sweeping views of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge\, the festival pairs the laid-back marina atmosphere The Sailhouse is known for with the crisp air and autumn colors that draw visitors to the Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow area each fall. \nEach Sunday brings a rotating lineup of oyster selections and specials\, alongside seasonal cocktails\, beer and wine tastings\, and additional dishes from The Sailhouse kitchen. Competitive guests can test their speed in the oyster slurp-off contests\, while live music sets the mood from start to finish\, easing in with a relaxed waterfront vibe in the early afternoon and building in energy as the day goes on. \nIn true Sleepy Hollow fashion\, the Headless Horseman will make special appearances throughout the series. Guests can also take to the river aboard PaddlePub cruises departing directly from Washington Irving Boat Club for a different view of the Hudson. \nThe Tiki Bar and stage area serve as the heart of the festivities\, with casual seating available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Those who prefer a full sit-down meal can make a reservation at The Sailhouse\, then head out to the waterfront to join the fun. It’s an easy addition to a fall day in the Historic Hudson River Towns\, whether you’re here for the foliage\, the historic sites\, or the Halloween season.

SUMMARY:Death by Chocolate Tea & Tour
DESCRIPTION:Sinfully sweet\, deliciously dark. Death by Chocolate is an immersive tea experience inspired by the shadowy side of chocolate’s history — true tales of crime\, scandal\, and unexpected twists\, all tied to the world’s most irresistible indulgence. \nThe afternoon begins with an hour-long tour of Lyndhurst Mansion\, after which the group adjourns to the Carriage House for the tea. There\, a rich selection of handcrafted chocolate desserts and confections is served alongside black and herbal teas from the Puddings and Biscakes collection\, while stories from chocolate’s surprising and sometimes sinister past unfold. Seating is community-style\, though guests who book together will be seated together — making it just as easy to come solo as with a group. \nThe experience is led by Bridget Bray\, a curator of events centered on food\, heritage\, and history\, founder of Puddings and Biscakes\, and a board member of the Culinary Historians of New York. \nKnow before you go: \n\nGeneral admission $80 + service fees; ages 18 and up\nTwo seatings: 10:00 am–12:30 pm and 2:00 pm–4:30 pm — choose your time when you book\nIncludes an hour-long mansion tour followed by the tea in the Carriage House\nThe mansion tour involves standing and a flight of stairs; the Carriage House is ADA-accessible\, and only the first floor of the mansion is accessible (no elevator)\nLyndhurst may not be able to accommodate dietary restrictions for this specific event. If you have any questions or concerns\, please reach out to Glynis Cotton at Gcotton@savingplaces.org\nArrive 15 minutes early; check in at the Welcome Center\nTickets are non-refundable; the event does sell out\n\nWhy this is a treat for Sleepy Hollow visitors: A gothic tea in a Gilded Age mansion is Sleepy Hollow’s spooky-season spirit in miniature — history\, indulgence\, and a little darkness\, all in one afternoon. Pair it with a fall day exploring the Lyndhurst estate and the rest of the Halloween season in Sleepy Hollow.

DESCRIPTION:The event will begin with a tour of Lyndhurst Mansion. This one-hour tour covers two floors and gives visitors a rare glimpse of the lavish decorative arts and furniture left at Lyndhurst by previous owners. The mansion will be spectacularly decorated for the Holidays! The tour visits approximately 16 rooms and involves climbing one staircase with 25 steps. \nGuests of the Victorian Holiday Tea and Tour will then adjourn to the carriage room of the Welcome Center. They will enjoy a selection of festive treats and teas while learning about the history of Christmas crackers\, a popular Victorian novelty item. From its 19th century beginnings as a Parisian bonbon to the whimsical novelties we know today\, guests will discover the fascinating story and artistry behind this beloved holiday tradition. \nThis will be a mini afternoon tea service that will include small tea sandwiches\, scones\, and a Victorian sponge. While not a full meal\, this mini afternoon tea will include slightly more food and new savory options than our normal sweet tea service! \nThe tea experience will be led by Bridget Bray\, owner of the Puddings and Biscakes teas and the creator of custom-crafted tea experiences. \nSeating will be community style to encourage a convivial atmosphere while guests enjoy their tea service and short program. This will be ideally suited for guests to join on their own or with others. Guests booked together will be seated together.
