DESCRIPTION:Blessing of the Animals brings together furry friends\, fish & fowl\, snakes\, bugs\, zebras & elephants. Pets and people of all faiths\, and no faith\, are welcome! \nThe Blessing takes place in front of the church\, rain or shine. All pets need to be leashed or in carriers. \nTo mark the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi we will be having a short liturgy of blessing and thanksgiving for the animals who share our homes and lives.We invite you to bring your well-behaved pets\, photos of pets who have passed or who just don’t like to travel\, or beloved stuffed animals. \n\nWashington Irving\, author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow\,” followed the Rev. Dr. William Creighton to this church from Zion Episcopal in Dobbs Ferry. Irving was a vestryman\, warden\, Sunday School teacher\, and regular parishioner at Christ Church until his death in 1859. The ivy on the church walls is from cuttings taken at Irving’s home\, Sunnyside\, and his pew is still marked in the front of the sanctuary.

DESCRIPTION:Christ Episcopal Church in Tarrytown\, where Washington Irving once worshipped\, is thrilled to bring back its Fall Fair in 2025! From 10 am to 4 pm\, visitors can shop for books\, browse the White Elephant section for bargains\, go thrifting for vintage fashion\, jewelry\, toys\, and more. Don’t forget to stop by the International Café for lunch and delicious homemade treats. There will also be live music\, a roaming magician\, and crafts and games for children making it a fun day for the whole family! \nGet a glimpse of old Tarrytown by taking a historic tour of Christ Church! \nFounded in 1836\, Christ Church San Marcos has grown and adapted to meet the needs of its local community. For years\, the church hall has been home to the Community Food Pantry of Sleepy Hollow. The church also offers additional services\, including a Clothing Closet\, a scholarship fund that helps local youth attend summer enrichment programs\, a series of Saturday night concerts\, and an annual Day of Defiant Hope social justice forum. \n  \n\nWashington Irving\, author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow\,” followed the Rev. DESCRIPTION:Hundreds of costumed witches\, warlocks\, and wizards paddle the Hudson River off Kingsland Point Park in one of Sleepy Hollow’s signature Halloween traditions.\nOn shore\, “Witches Hollow” brings live music\, food\, local brews\, and vendors; on the water\, a mass costumed paddle launches in the early afternoon for a group photo taken mid-river. It’s been covered by the New York Times and Smithsonian\, and you don’t have to paddle to enjoy it — spectators are welcome all afternoon. \nFestival tickets are $8 in advance\, $10 on the day; kids under 8 free with an adult. Paddlers must pre-register by October 7 (from $35)\, come in costume\, and bring a leash and PFD — previous paddle experience required. \nRain date: Sunday\, October 11.
