SUMMARY:The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze
DESCRIPTION:More than 7\,000 hand-carved jack o’lanterns light up the riverside grounds of Van Cortlandt Manor.\nTen acres of an 18th-century estate above the Hudson become a half-mile walk past life-sized dinosaurs\, a working carousel\, a planetarium built entirely of glowing gourds\, and the Headless Horseman riding out of the dark. \nArches\, tunnels\, and clearings open up where the pumpkins climb well above head height\, all of it lit in sequence and scored to an original soundtrack\, so the light moves with the music and the walk keeps reintroducing itself around each bend. \nNew for 2026: a longer path with more displays than any previous season\, movie-monster photo ops\, storybook characters carved to look like they’ve stepped off the page\, and a full pumpkin dance party. \nSpooky\, not scary. No jump scares\, no actors chasing you — it works as well for a six-year-old as for the friend who claims they’ve outgrown Halloween. \nTwo ticketed add-ons let you step off the trail midway: the Gourd & Goblet Tavern\, inside the manor’s 18th-century brick tavern\, and the Headless Horseman’s Hideaway\, a pop-up lounge with visits from the Horseman himself. Both must be booked in advance. \nAdvance tickets only — nothing is sold at the gate\, and dates sell out. FLEX tickets get you in on any open night\, even when the calendar is full. \n2026 dates: Select dates\, September 18-November 8. Open every night in October. Entry times vary by date.

SUMMARY:The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Local Lore
DESCRIPTION:Follow a lamplit path to the ruins of Rockwood Hall\, high above the Hudson\, where storyteller and author David Neilsen is waiting with an evening of Sleepy Hollow’s lesser-known ghost stories — and one very famous one. \nThe program opens with local lore drawn from the preserve’s own ground\, the tales Washington Irving didn’t make famous\, before turning to “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” itself and the real places behind it. It closes the way it has to: with the Headless Horseman\, mounted\, riding out of the dark. \nDress for a night walk on unpaved park paths in late October. \nNote that Rockwood Hall is the preserve’s western section\, reached from Route 9 — not the main entrance on Route 117. Advance tickets through Eventbrite.

SUMMARY:Spirits of Sleepy Hollow Country
DESCRIPTION:Sleepy Hollow has more ghosts than the Horseman. Two illusionists intend to get them talking.\n\n\n\nMark Clearview and Nick Wallace return to Philipsburg Manor this October with an original magic show built around the spirits of Sleepy Hollow Country — not generic stage spooks\, but the local dead. Hulda of Bohemia\, the healer the village called a witch. Major John André\, the British spy caught just down the road in Tarrytown. And the Headless Horseman\, who needs no introduction around here. \n\n\n\nThe premise is that none of them ever left\, and all of them have something to say about it. What follows is an hour’s worth of illusion delivered with real comic timing — a magic show first\, funnier more often than it is frightening\, even as the lights drop and things begin happening that shouldn’t. \n\n\n\nIt runs about 50 minutes with no intermission\, in reserved seats\, and it sells out every year. \n\n\n\nNew for 2026: premium seats ($89) now include a complimentary beer or wine and a snack. \n\n\n\nKnow before you go\n\n\n\n\nWhere: Philipsburg Manor\, 381 North Broadway\, Sleepy Hollow\, NY 10591. Overflow parking at 100 Continental Street.\n\n\n\nWhen: Fridays–Sundays\, October 2–31. Two to four performances a day depending on the date\, from mid-afternoon through 7:30 pm. Check Historic Hudson Valley’s website for exact times.\n\n\n\nRun time: About 50 minutes\, no intermission\n\n\n\nArrive early. Seating is reserved\, the show starts promptly\, and latecomers can’t be seated.\n\n\n\nTickets: Value seating $65\, standard $79\, premium $89. Historic Hudson Valley members save 15%. Advance purchase only\, no tickets sold on site.\n\n\n\nAges: Recommended for 10 and up. Expect dim lighting\, moments of suspense\, and effects designed to startle.\n\n\n\nAccessibility: Accessible seating is available by phone at 914-366-6900.\n\n\n\n\nTickets and full schedule: hudsonvalley.org or 914-366-6900

SUMMARY:TaSH Farmers Market
DESCRIPTION:Stop by TaSH — the Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow Farmers Market — for fresh Hudson Valley produce\, meat\, bread\, cut flowers\, dairy\, preserves\, wine and beer. There are weekly live music performances\, children’s activities\, chef demos\, and ongoing educational programs\, plus weekly free samplings. Well-behaved dogs are welcome\, provided your pooch is leashed. \nTaSH is set in historic Patriots Park\, on Route 9 straddling the villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow\, next to the Warner Library. Run by the nonprofit Rivertowns Village Green\, it’s one of the region’s most celebrated markets\, with 50-plus vendors sourced from the Hudson Valley and food-access programs that make it welcoming to everyone. \nThe market is an easy walk from the Tarrytown Metro-North station and sits near the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail\, so a car-free visit is realistic — see Sleepy Hollow Without a Car for train details. \nGetting there: Free parking is available across the street at the John Paulding School. For GPS\, use the library address\, 121 North Broadway\, Tarrytown\, NY 10591. \nSaturdays\, 8:30 am to 1:30 pm\, rain or shine — Memorial Day weekend through the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Check the organizer’s site for this year’s exact opening and closing dates and any special Mother’s Day or holiday markets. \nPlanning a fall visit? TaSH is the Saturday counterpart to Sunday’s Irvington market\, and it’s a great low-key start to a fall day — see how it anchors a slow morning in A Perfect Fall Day in Sleepy Hollow.

SUMMARY:Irvington Farmers Market
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy live music\, river views and a laid-back setting at this small-town Sunday market showcasing the best of what the Hudson Valley has to offer. In season\, there’s fresh local produce\, seafood and meats\, cheese\, pickles\, prepared foods and baked goods\, with live music most weeks. \nThe Irvington Farmers Market runs Sunday mornings outdoors on the grounds of the Main Street School\, a short stroll from Washington Irving’s home\, Sunnyside. Look for the life-sized statue of Irving’s character Rip Van Winkle at the southwestern corner of the school property\, facing Main Street. The market sits right on the leafy Old Croton Aqueduct Trail and is an easy walk from the Irvington Metro-North station\, so many shoppers arrive on foot or by bike — see Sleepy Hollow Without a Car for train details. \nRun by Morning Glory Markets\, the outdoor season runs Sundays from spring through late fall. A separate winter market operates indoors on Saturdays in the off-season; check the organizer’s site for this year’s exact dates. \nGetting there: Sunday parking is available on the village streets and in the municipal lot at the top of Main Street. Avoid the permit-only lot across from the Main Street School. \nSundays\, 9 am to 1:30 pm\, rain or shine. Well-behaved dogs are welcome\, provided your pooch is leashed. \nPlanning a fall visit? The Irvington market is the Sunday counterpart to Saturday’s TaSH market in Tarrytown — see how it anchors a low-key morning in A Perfect Fall Day in Sleepy Hollow.
