SUMMARY:The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)
DESCRIPTION:37 Plays. 90 minutes. What could possibly go wrong?! Bring the kids! This one is fun for the whole family! \nThis May\, Lovely Calamity Productions invites audiences to stop staring into the void and start pointing at it and laughing. The company kicks off its spring season with the riotously funny and relentlessly entertaining The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)\, performing for two nights only at the historic Hudson Valley Writers Center. \nWritten by Adam Long\, Daniel Singer\, and Jess Winfield\, this irreverent romp through the Bard’s folio promises to answer the burning questions scholars have dodged for centuries: Is Hamlet simply too long? and Would Titus Andronicus be more effective as a cooking show? \n“It’s chaotic\, it’s joyful\, and it’s arguably the most fun you can have with a pair of tights\,” says producer and director Cristina Noelle. “We are tearing through the greatest stories ever told with a level of theatrical cardio that has to be seen to be believed!” \nThe production features a powerhouse trio of performers—Michael Cirelli\, Michael Rhese\, and Matthew Ritacco—who will sprint\, swordfight\, and wig-swap their way through all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in under two hours. From star-crossed lovers to bloody histories\, no stone is left unturned and no ruff is left un-ruffled.

SUMMARY:The Pinkster Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join Philipsburg Manor for a day filled with art\, poetry\, live music\, dance\, and storytelling that celebrates and commemorates the region’s African American history and culture. \nPinkster (the Dutch word for Pentecost) is the oldest African American holiday. It began as the only time when enslaved Africans in New Netherlands were given an opportunity to rest from their forced labor and reunite with loved ones. Over the centuries\, Pinkster grew into a multifaceted celebration of African culture\, featuring music\, dance\, drumming\, storytelling and foodways that enabled enslaved and free Black Americans to reclaim their heritage and served as a form of joyful resistance against oppression. \nPhilipsburg Manor began celebrating Pinkster in 1977\, making this event the longest-running recreation of Pinkster in North America. The Pinkster Festival is curated by Malik Work and presented by Historic Hudson Valley.

In season\, there’s fresh local produce\, seafood and meats\, cheese\, pickles\, prepared foods and baked goods\, with live music most weeks. \nThe Irvington Farmers Market runs Sunday mornings outdoors on the grounds of the Main Street School\, a short stroll from Washington Irving’s home\, Sunnyside. The market sits right on the leafy Old Croton Aqueduct Trail and is an easy walk from the Irvington Metro-North station\, so many shoppers arrive on foot or by bike — see Sleepy Hollow Without a Car for train details. \nRun by Morning Glory Markets\, the outdoor season runs Sundays from spring through late fall. A separate winter market operates indoors on Saturdays in the off-season; check the organizer’s site for this year’s exact dates. \nGetting there: Sunday parking is available on the village streets and in the municipal lot at the top of Main Street. SUMMARY:Girls Gone Bible
DESCRIPTION:What started as an intimate Bible study between two best friends has transformed into Girls Gone Bible\, a Christian podcast redefining faith-based conversations for a new generation. \nThe Girls Gone Bible podcast (with over 20 million+ listens)\, is ranked #1 for religion and spirituality on Spotify\, an iHeart Podcast Awards nominee and is also featured in the top charts on Apple Podcasts. Co-hosted by Angela Halili and Arielle Reitsma\, the show offers unfiltered\, heartfelt discussions on faith\, relationships\, personal struggles\, and spiritual growth. The idea for Girls Gone Bible wasn’t born in a strategy meeting—it happened organically. “We were sitting in my living room\, reading the Bible\,” Halili recalls. “And suddenly\, it just clicked—we need to record this.” That unassuming moment sparked a movement\, resonating with listeners who craved authenticity in a world that often demands perfection. Raw\, real\, and deeply personal\, Girls Gone Bible is more than just a podcast—it’s a community. The “GGB gang\,” as they call their listeners\, has grown into a family\, connected by shared stories and a collective pursuit of faith. The duo’s live events\, national tour\, and upcoming devotional are just the beginning of their expanding platform\, proving that faith-based content can be both powerful and wildly engaging. With Girls Gone Bible\, Halili and Reitsma are leading a new wave of faith-driven conversations—one honest\, unfiltered episode at a time. \nGirls Gone Bible is going out on the Revival Tour. It’s an invitation to experience the miracle-working power of God through real stories\, faith-filled conversations\, and shared worship. Come exactly as you are\, with your questions\, doubts\, and hope. You won’t leave the same because revival is about encountering God and allowing Him to do what only He can do.

SUMMARY:Buzz & Bloom: A Kids' Pollinator Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Explore the beautiful Lyndhurst landscape through the eyes of pollinators on this kid-friendly discovery tour led by the site’s horticulturalist. The expedition begins at the Welcome Center and ends at the Overlook\, former site of Helen Gould’s treehouse\, where a colorful native garden awaits. Stand upon the new viewing platform and take in the view through the eyes of a bird. Learn why bumblebees are so fluffy and what insects are good for your garden. The discovery portion of the program will be followed by a hands-on gardening activity in the landscape. Families and young visitors will learn how to make a Native Seed Ball. Dress comfortably and be prepared to get your hands dirty! \nImportant Information\, Please Read: \n\nCheck-in at the Welcome Center\nThis is a walking tour and involves a hands-on gardening activity (Materials provided)\nThe tour and activity are 75 minutes long. \nFree event\, but advance registration is required.\nThese tickets do not include access to the mansion. \nPlease arrive 15 minutes before the entry time on your ticket. If you are late\, we will do our best to accommodate you\, but we cannot guarantee it.\nA Grounds Pass is not needed if you already have a Tour or Event Ticket. \nTo best accommodate groups\, including special needs\, please contact us in advance to make reservations at 914-303-6844. \n\nThe Overlook Garden is a pollinator-friendly garden full of low-maintenance native plants\, including flowering shrubs and perennials\, and ornamental grasses. Designed by Hudson Valley landscape artist Paula Hayes\, it forms a circular pattern\, a mandala of plants\, around the newly restored Overlook platform.  Historically\, this platform was a treehouse centered around a weeping European birch tree. Due to climate change\, the tree could not be returned to the landscape. Several of the shade trees and shrub tunnels that once adorned this area of the landscape are now missing and will be restored over time. \nMandalas often represent unity\, harmony\, and a sense of connection. The individual beds in the garden\, swaths of tall grasses that elicit a sense of movement and groupings of colorful flowers\, will evolve over time and merge to form a meadow. While akin to the wilder way in which we design gardens today\, the design supports the 19th-century gardening principles of Helen Gould\, an avid naturalist whose library included books on ornithology\, native trees\, and beneficial insects. Helen’s additions to the Lyndhurst landscape included flowering shrubs and extensive perennial beds. Today\, the Overlook Garden\, at the site of her former treehouse\, is an example of the evolution of the American landscape and our need to evolve with it\, via biodiverse plantings and sustainable landscaping practices\, as the environment changes. Standing atop the platform\, visitors are surrounded by plants that are beneficial to bees\, insects\, and birds\, and remind us of the joys of connecting with nature.
