Where the Legend Lives
As part of creating the new Ardsley Casino in Ardsley-on-Hudson, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jr., the Chairman of the New York Central & Hudson River Railroad Company, agreed to the construction of a private train station for the exclusive use of club members. Built in 1895-1896, this beautiful train station – and the connected dock used by club members to arrive by steam yacht – was the gateway to what became the fabulously wealthy Ardsley Country Club. Over the years this beautiful Tudor Revival train station has continued to serve the Ardsley Park and greater Irvington and Dobbs Ferry communities. IHS Board Member Chet Kerr will explore this history and the legacy of this iconic building as it exists today.
