Explore the habitat of monarch butterflies with Shayla and Hailey on a family-friendly hike at the Rockwood Hall section of Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Sleepy Hollow.

Learn about the monarch life cycle and their incredible transcontinental migration, why their numbers are in decline, and what we can do to help them. The hike will be about 2 miles with frequent stops for discussion. Please bring water and wear sun protection.

The hike is at Rockwood Hall, DO NOT go to the main Preserve entrance. The parking lot is on Kendal Way off route 117, just after the intersection of Phelps and Regeneron. If the lot is full, you may park in the Phelps garage.

Gather at the kiosk at the top of the hill across the street from the parking lot.

The hike will continue in light rain; however, in the event of heavy rain, the hike will be canceled. You will be notified via email at least 2 hours in advance.
