Visit Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown
Where the Legend Lives
Join environmental educator, Kim Fendrich, on a journey through time.
Learn about the geologic history of this area and observe evidence of tectonic activity, glaciation, weathering, and erosion throughout the Preserve. You will begin with a demonstration to put Earth’s 4.5 billion year history into perspective, followed by discussion and then a short walk to get up-close and personal with some rocks along the Sleepy Hollow trail. You will walk about 2 miles in total.
Meet in the Rockefeller State Park Visitor’s Center courtyard.
There’s something for everyone in Sleepy Hollow Country—farmers markets, live music, street fairs, historic homes, hiking trails, kayaking and boating on the Hudson River. Halloween season brings even more for the whole family—haunted hayrides, blazing pumpkins, costumed 10K run, Halloween parade, and of course, the Headless Horseman!
