Where the Legend Lives
Charles Rhyner and his stellar jazz quartet present a performance of his modern yet lyrical compositions which bring vibrancy to the spacious, melodic and flowing tunes.
Weather permitting this concert will take place in the courtyard behind the church at 10 West Elizabeth Street, Tarrytown. Bring your own food and beverages. In the event of rain, the performance will be moved inside the church, 43 South Broadway, Tarrytown.
Washington Irving, author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” followed the Rev. Dr. William Creighton to this church from Zion Episcopal in Dobbs Ferry. Irving was a vestryman, warden, Sunday School teacher, and regular parishioner at Christ Church until his death in 1859. The ivy on the church walls is from cuttings taken at Irving’s home, Sunnyside, and his pew is still marked in the front of the sanctuary.
There’s something for everyone in Sleepy Hollow Country—farmers markets, live music, street fairs, historic homes, hiking trails, kayaking and boating on the Hudson River.
